When we watch a show, we see characters who are the way they are because they've lived the 20, 30, 40 years it took to get them to that moment when we peek in on their lives... to us, they're characters, but in the character's world, he's a complete person, and every person is the star of his own life. From his point of view, he's the hero of his own story. Even if we only see someone for an hour in a story, the other 23 hours of the day he's still living, breathing, feeling, and dreaming ... These people come from somewhere and there's no doubt of it. They have adventures not because they have nothing better to do, but because adventure is practically a by-product of the ongoing process of their lives.
