Dog has been sick...dad finally took her to the vet today...turns out she has (had) terminal skin cancer.

She was euthanized today about 2:30pm, while I was at work.

I pretty much had a crying panic-attack-gulping-air moment at work that lasted for 30 minutes.

If only we had taken her in sooner...but you know what they say about 'if only'. Tis a moot point.

Doesn't make it hurt any less.

If that wasn't bad enough, my roommate's alpaca also got put down today...but as soon as I got home from work she made it into this weird 'mine is worst' story, like "At least you weren't there <like I was>" And ended it by saying "Cheer up!"

Puta, when your beloved dog dies, I'd like to see you cheer up.

She stares at the screen. Her fingers type with little thought pressed behind them, although the words on the screen appear to be the work of an educated individual, composed neatly, with an impressive vocabulary.
 
But there’s no real thought there. No, her brain is too busy dealing with the explosion of images, dark, frightening, heart-stopping. Her suddenly chest tightens. Warmth swells up, centered around her heart, and streaks towards the back of her eyes, inflaming them. Hot tears press against sensitive flesh, and her eyelids strive to fight against the flood, but the battle is a losing one.
 
Heat streaks down her cheek. It cools quickly, leaving a prickly feeling in its wake. She moves to wipe the residue away, but instead hesitates. The tears remind her of what she is fighting for, a physical reminder that bests the dark images inside her brain. She can do this.
 
She has no other choice.

What is the Wishlist?

The Wishlist is a multi-fandom Christmas fanfiction fest. It is something that started very small and simple three years ago. The premise was simply to write twenty-four ficlets in response to twenty-four prompts, posted between 1 Dec and 24 Dec. Fandom gifts, if you will. Since then it's grown and changed a bit.

To help readers remember the story before beginning to read Willow's Choice, the 3rd book of the series.
Willow’s Thief:
Our titular heroine was in England recovering from magical addiction (and the events of season 6) when she found the thief responsible for a series of bread and eggs hefts – Sirius Black, on the run after from the Ministry of Magic (and the events of book #3). A series of misconceptions results and they are separated. Fortunately, fate intervenes (in the form of Dumbledore & the Golden Trio) and those misconceptions are put to rest. With the Ministry of Magic hot on their tail, Willow and Sirius escape through a portal to Sunnydale – but not before Willow has a moment of black-haired veiny badness.

Love begins to blossom between our heroes, regardless of the obstacles in their paths. Namely, dealing with the First Evil and Lucius Malfoy – who is hellbent on acquiring Willow and her powers, even if it means aligning himself with the First Evil.

The events of Season 7 of BTVS happen to an extent, but this time Remus comes to Sunnydale with Giles, and they bring a Hogwarts 3rd Year named Luna who is a potential slayer (determined by the random Bringer attack she suffered). The other canon potentials show up, and Kennedy is as bratty and as focused on Willow as ever – except, this Kennedy is a witch.

Sirius discovers that Dawn possesses a magical core that allows her to be a witch, and he and Remus begin teaching her. Remus and Anya begin a sexy-time-turned-serious relationship, and it turns out that Anya was a Hogwarts witch before she became a demon (and that’s how she cursed Olaf into a troll).

Christmas time brings a visit from Harry, Ron, and Hermione, chaperoned by Tonks. Harry and Dawn strike up a friendship, and so do Ton...

I know you are busy wrapping things up, but HR has asked me to complete a performance evaluation for you.  I have done so and been given the go-ahead to review it with you.

I'm a contract employee that has been employed since March 2010 (grant). I have only met with my boss during my first two weeks, a couple times during June 2010 and then just seen her at random work functions that I may attend (because I work from home). So I have NO idea what she will say on my performance evaluation. I have submitted some of my invoices late throughout the year - more so in the beginning b/c I was supposed to turn it in every 2 weeks but I liked getting paid one huge chunk at the end of the month so I would submit it monthly, only to find out later they did not like that because the Finance Department was getting annoyed. So it made me look bad because I didn't know better. I've never had a deadline for reports but would always submit on time because it was a conference call with our grant giver at a state agency. After those calls ended with the beginning of a new regime in January I would submit maybe the 2nd or 3rd of the month which could be seen as late but I never had a deadline.

I'm nervous because I've applied for other jobs within the parent company and have not gotten anything positive back. The one they never got back to me but I also know it's been since Feb and they haven't hired anyone else and the position is in turmoil because they're changing the outcomes of that department. Also, at the interview the VP told me there was concern about my organizational ability because I turned in items late, and the (BITCH!) finance woman told her that. I explained myself and hoped I sounde...
