Sorry to those who saw this posted a few weeks back on Twisting the Hellmouth, but I dragged another chapter out for Gee, Thanks for All the Love. I rather liked it. Hope you do too. Next time- probably the "big reveal" and then maybe a conclusion. Because, as ever, I lack plot. Rather shamelessly actually.

I don't know why you guys put up with me.

Thanks though. ;-)

So, somehow reading extensive amounts of Harry Potter Fanfiction as opposed to working on article revisions for my PhD has led me to start a huge one-shot Buffy/Firefly cross. I'm not sure why. I'm not even sure if I like it. It's very sweeping, and kind of dark, and sappy, and I am such a fangirl for Buffy characters. I don't know why, especially when they annoy the crap out of me. But I like to pet them and dress them in pretty clothes to play house. Thousands of words of house.

I also want to write Harry Potter fanfiction now. Because it's become such utter rubbish. I used to be able to sort through and find some good ones in the lot but they're all so... bland. It's like watching a Spiderman movie. Repeatedly.

I also timidly admit to reading some Buffy/Twilight crossover fanfiction, mostly because like Real Person fanfiction- it just HURTS my brain. I've seen both Twilight movies (and read the series summary on Wikipedia). In the dollar theater. With a flask of whisky or tequila and candy bars hidden under my bulky coat. It was fantastic- we drank every time 'Bella' clutched her hair and moaned. But the idea of meshing the worlds together, with all the sparkle and fang, is just... I mean... Buffy playing Vampire Baseball? God, the crackfic that could and should inspire.

So, hopefully something productive from me. Soon(ish). Or a degree. So I can have my life back.

PhD. Blah, blah, blah. PhD. Blah.  I need to finish these stupid degrees so I can come up with a more interesting reason for not updating my fanfiction other than the fact that I spent most of the last three months in my underwear at my computer eating cheetos and writing papers. Though, that's funny the first time you hear it. Or, err, see it.

ANYWAY, new chapter in Assassination Attempt.  Its looking like there's only one chapter left. Because that makes 5 and it amuses me to decree it so. Also, I have NO frickin plot at all.

How many of you authors have ever Googled your fanfic? I don't come up hardly at all with my real name, but its always neat (and amusing) to find recs and reviews I didn't know existed. My favorite this time around was someone who strongly disliked my "Mary-Sue" love of Xander and the Buffy crowd in Trick or Treat. Which is funny since I am completely un-Sccoby like in reality. I just like to make my typed dolls play house all nice and like. So, it was a very apt review, just fun to see from a different perspective.  This did lead me to momentarily ask why you would read Buffy fanfiction if you hated all the character and want to continue to hate them, but then I remembered my foray into real-person fanfiction right before it got banned on FF.Net, hang my head and shame, and go back to playing with my dolls.

I thought the icon change was appropriate given my lack of real presence the last year or so.  I am still stubbornly plugging away.  I wish that I didn't have to write for my job- it would open up so much more time for fanfiction.  *sigh*

Anyway, I posted chapter 5 to Gee, Thanks for all the Love.  I'm actually rather proud of it, despite Severus being slightly OC in my opinion.

Erm, I updated Gee, Thanks for All the Love too.  I'm not sure where it came from, but I'm not arguing with it either.

So.. yay?  Do I still remember how to w

November?  NOVEMBER was the last time I posted something?  Geesh.  I AM made of fail.  Okay, added an unexpected chapter to the Mercy Thompson crossover, Assassination Attempt.

A Step Sideways

They will be short chapters.  Its the nature of the story, and my life.  On the up side, I have a Bones crossover half written, a Buffy/Jack story no less.  What's with me and the romance lately?  Maybe some sort of real life deficiency or lack of good obsessable television.  Btw, who else had issues with the recasts in Dollhouse?  My brain short circuited a few times.

Update for Gee, Thanks for All the Love.

Because I'm like, updating again and stuff apparently.  Hope someone else is happy about this. :)

Halloween was unfortunately drama filled (which basically ruined one of my favorite holidays), but here's the results of my costume:

I always tease about being a Fangirl but I'm actually going to do it.  I'm going to dress up as one of Captain Hammer's Fangirls for Halloween.  And given my tendency to embrace tequila there will likely be embarrassing pictures.  I may even post them here.

Been all writerly itchy lately.  Watching Firefly this weekend helped.  Getting hit in my right arm during SCA fighter practice (medieval combat) where I have nerve damage from Pennsic tonight did not.

Maybe this weekend.  I'll actually be home for once and I'm all awash in ironic drama.  Should make for entertaining reading.

I absolutely adore getting random reviews and emails about stories I finished years ago, especially when they begin with "I don't know if you're still around..."  It makes me happy to think that occasionally people are still reading and enjoying stuff I've written so long ago it doesn't even really feel like mine anymore.  Trick or Treat is just starting to get to the point where I re-read parts once in awhile and think "wow, I wrote that?"  But its my Labyrinth fanfiction that always seems like its a stranger's stories.  Granted, some of them are really crappy stories, but, some, some I'm still kinda proud of.

Anyway, its been a random email/review week and everyone makes me grin from ear to ear.

Look, I'm alive, and obsessing even.  More icons to come.  Feel free to gank them, credit would be nice, but, whatever.  I am all Mastered and stuff (meaning I am one step closer to being a bigger egg-head).  Stories still exist in my brain, they just haven't been interested in sitting still long enough to come out.

I am alive, and contemplative though.

Anyone else think Twisting the Hellmouth has seemed a little dead lately?  Or am I just so long absent I don't recognize the new kids on the block?  Geeze, I've been writing fanfic for almost a decade.  Since I'm less than three decades that seems a long time.  Yay dorks!

I am in total Manservant Bloomers love.  There will be stories.  Many stories spawned from that sequence.  I wish it was the show, but Whedon bless Season 8 of Buffy in comic form.

Have gotten several highly bitchy reviews and emails associated with Twisting the Hellmouth in the last two weeks.  Some about content, some about my inability to format.  I just find it interesting- I've been with the site for FOUR years and this is the first time its ever happened.  I'm not even particularly popular as an author currently due to lack of updates/story material.

Very odd.

On an up note, thank you to everyone who nominated me at the Fang Fetish awards.  Its always such a genuine surprise to get those nomination notices.

Real life sucking great honking monkey balls.  I want to write and paint so badly ideas and art supplies are exploding out of my ears.  Maybe May.  Because my thesis is only due in June.

Buffy always thought that she would die quickly, gasping away in a puddle of blood in a darkened alleyway. She never dreamed she’d go like this- dying by degrees... She had everything she had always wanted, and it was killing her.

Forgot to post this.  Been working on this Firely one-shot for like SIX MONTHS.  I HATE having a single chapter rolling around that long.  Usually once I sit down to write, I write.  I write until I'm done.  And then I'm all empty for a few days/months/years.  I used to get less empty but I also used to not have four or five 40-100pg academic legal type papers floating around that have actual deadlines.  Those suck my soul.

Anyway, here's Collecting Xander, a Firely cross from River's perspective.  Mild Xander/Zoe, also some River/Mal.  Y'all know I don't do graphic pretty much anything.  It was well received at TtH, which was unexpected and very nice.  Thanks to any of you who reviewed/read/etc.

Digging desperately for free time.  I have a Buffy/Jason Bourne rolling around my head, and Chapter 2 of These Darkened Days.  Until then, check out Jennifer.  Active author, well-written, some of my favorite reading fandoms (because I read so many more than I could ever desire to write in, because I'm stodgy like that).

Back to papers 1-5, and legal research I owe my boss.

 These Darkened Days

Much darker than I normally go.  I'm kinda excited to see if I can pull it off.  I've been drifting back to actually writing for myself again (ie. fanfics), so this is of the good.  I will be continuing some of my other in-progress fics.  I forget how long its been since I've updated them.  Once I start them, they live in my head, so I'll forget its been a year or so since I've touched them.  It always seems like yesterday.

Hope everyone is well and getting ready for the holidays.

Still writing, and beta-ing.  Just, well, work is coming first right now.  Or at least second.

I'm currently in love with this one, and I usually detest colorizations, even when I do them.  Perhaps *especially* when I do them.

Absurdly simple, but I loved the photograph and didn't want to detract too much from it.

In fandom related news, Tassos has "snapshots" of the Bridges universe going up as I manage to beta them.  Go read.  Maybe you'll be inspired to write an epic too.  Hopefully I will be.  Again.  LOL

Also, I'm a bit late on the uptake, having been out of the fast lane of TTH for a bit, but jAKl has the sequel of Far Beyond Normal, Return to Normal, going up at a steady pace.

Hope to have my short Firefly story up (probably ten pages? one shot?) up on Wednesday.  Because its my birthday and life has been a bit rough of late.  I'll post here if I manage it.

Oh, and I went through my Friends list and added people.  Lurkers are welcome, but I'm so not a LJ friend snob and try to do it every couple of months.  Because not *that* many people add me.  :P

Two months?  That's laziness on a grand scale, even for me.

Illustration
Pablo Neruda, a fashion spread, and continuing laziness on my part.

The SCA continues to eat my soul.  Retaining for royalty will do that.  And Pennsic.

I have two stories that are trying very hard to be born.  Yes, new ones.  One is a firm one-parter featuring Xander and our beloved crew of Serenity.  Its a paired fic even, and I *never* do those.  Another is something epic like- a very dark HP/BtVS cross featuring Xander and Hermione.  Another pairing.  A dramatic one no less.  Very uncharacteristic for me.

Anyway, hope to get out of my funk soon.  Maybe I'll get something up for my birthday so I can have happy reviews.  Thanks to anyone who has been worrying about me.  I'm alive and kicking, if a bit feebly on some days. LOL

Part avant-guarde fashion, part T.S. Elliot.

I've been making pottery.

Still alive and kicking, err, sniffling.  Allergies and all.

Feel a bit aimless fandom wise.  Season 8 has been hopeful though.

I actually posted this a few weeks ago, since the deadline was then and all, but didn't post a link here.  I did my SG1/BtVS fic-a-thon for Jinni.  Its just a short little fluff piece, which is why the title is appropriate I guess.

The Joys of Marshmallow Cream

Also, a Pirates 3 wallpaper, because I love Jack in all his irreverency.  Its almost like having a sexed up version of the Scoobies prancing around on the big screen.

Same lyrics.  Less pleased with this one though.  Me and text.  Bah.

Signed up for the SG/BtVS fic-a-thon at Twisting the Hellmouth.  Yay for back in the saddle.  Still fiddling with the mini sequel to Trick or Treat, or whatever the hell you want to call a "ten years later" fic.

Be back soon. :)
