Rules for Challenges

Author Feynor

Halloween 1997.
Xander's costume idea falls through, again.
Instead he finds a Vulcan outfit. Any of the Star Trek series or time frames are applicable. Except this Vulcan is not a named character from the series. No Spock.
He is, however, young.

Some time after the Halloween episode, he starts to feel sick.

Very sick.

The challenge is that one of the female characters, Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, or just someone entirely surprising, but in the same age bracket, recognizes this as the early stages of the Vulcan Pon farr, knows what needs to be done, but is ...

A little unconventional Crossover, really.

The image is 6 slides of Doctor Who images.
Each having the words:
Take my love
Take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to cover the two fandoms in question, Firefly and Doctor Who, any incarnation applies, but the image is primarily centred around the 10th.
Feel free to add others as needed, or desired. BtVS is definitely a bonus.

It would be fu...

Inspired by Marcus Rowland's "Ship of the Line: Out with a Bang."

The Halloween prank goes horribly wrong, and the planet is utterly destroyed, or made uninhabitable, killing everyone.

Challenge parameters:
1. Preferably a single chapter only.
2. Anything goes, as long as the planet does.
3. Should be a proper "Oops!" moment.
4. The one initiating the destruction must be a Canon Sunnydale citizen.

In short, the only costume change is on Willow (preferred) or Buffy. Xander still goes as his soldier guy.

Willow or Buffy is convinced to use a different dress, only it is the costume of "Ella of Frell", from Ella Enchanted, the problem being that the "gift of obedience" curse remains.

As in the film/book she can't tell anyone about the curse, but should find out about that curse staying behind soon after Halloween.
Xander does find out though, by being observant, and that should be the primary plot. Xander taking point to protect Willow/Buffy, the challenge for Xander b...

They really should have known better. They lived on the Hellmouth, and really should have known that tempting faith like that would never go well. Truth to be told, it didn't.

Someone get the bright idea of a game of truth or dare. Starting with writing down the dares on cards dropped into a bowl to be picked at random as needed.
Sadly someone (else?) had also cast a truth spell, the range and duration of which is up to the response author. The spell came with a side order of "Promises kept" so whoever asked would be compelled to answer and complete the promise they had made.

A variation on the "YAHF, going as a group or theme" challenges, this time the theme is old/ancient deities either historical, like the Greek, Egyptian or Norse, or from for instance the D&D or DragonLance series of books.

It is preferable, but not required that the Scoobies and friends go as a single pantheon. No contemporary western deities though, they are quite frankly described as too powerful.

- BtVS is essentially about Buffy, and while she may not end up being the head deity in that mix, she must be the head kick-ass fighter.
- No gender swap...

Halloween is approaching, and with it the more or less obligatory Halloween episode fics from the (in)famous BtVS Halloween episode.

This challenge is hopefully different.

1. NO BtVS characters beyond Ethan. None of them.
2. Doesn't require Ethan. While he were the antagonist in BtVS, it is the premise, and if a "local" magic user can be made to cause the same effect without Ethan, all the better.
3. Cross the premise of the Halloween episode with at least one TV series, movie or book series of your choice.
4. None of the costume choices can be from Buf...

A spell is cast, intending to call upon the Greek Pantheon for assistance in a problem.
The problem is, the spell is misread, and instead a *Geek* pantheon is summoned.

What kind of hi-jinx and trouble would ensue if such a misreading and/or mispronunciation had ended up in a spell?

Calling upon the Geek Gods to assist them in battle, and then fearing what kind of gifts they might bring?

For instance, I'm sure Cordelia would be most displeased meeting the Geek Goddess for love and beauty, if she thought she was about to receive fashion tips from the Greek counter...

Premise is that Sparks, hyper cognitive geniuses, more often than not quite literally "Mad Scientists", are real in the BtVS verse.
These Sparks tend to create items and machines that are quite literally out of their time, but doing so using contemporary materials. And in Girl Genius lore, quite a few emerging Sparks without training end up getting themselves killed right away by creating some insane machine that end turning against them, or simply run amok.

With that premise, it's clear that there were at least two major sparks in Sunnydale at some point. Warren Meers, and whome...

Canon up to the first episode of Season 5, where Dawn made her first appearance (if I recall).

The monks created Dawn, and in doing so created all the memories and other changes needed to have the Dawn construct fit into Buffy's family without raising suspicion.

Only they were disturbed a little too soon, and the insertion spell went wrong at the time of the actual insertion, and the key, in the form of Dawn, is displaced to another dimension instead of arriving in Sunnydale.

The Scoobies and the rest of the Sunnydale crew are suddenly short one little sister. And Da...

Timeframe: Any time really
A starship crashes outside Sunnydale. Most of the crew is dead, but the pilot is found alive in the POD (EVE Online's "escape pods", though they can be destroyed as well, and often are by other players).

The Sunnydalers manages to access the ships/Pods computers, and at least get an idea what is going on. Here they discover that the pilot had found an uncharted wormhole, and despite warnings about it's stability decided to check it out anyway, as apparently while these wormhole spaces come with great risks, they can also lead to unimaginable riches.

It have been touched upon before, but I still think it's an idea worthwhile pursuing.

What if, when the Sunnydale citizens costumes take over, it's not really a possession, but a mind swap?
Where any "powers" follows the owner so to speak.
And what happens in this case, when the costume is an amalgam, or completely made up?

Basically, by now we all more or less know what happened for all our characters in Sunnydale. But what about the other side of the coin?

I'm not sure that any powers or abilities obtained during the event should linger, but I'd say some fr...
