There have been YAHF's where Xander dresses as himself and gets possessed by his future self with decades of memories or himself from another reality. I propose that he dress as himself but becomes a Pod Person from the 1956 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". How would a Pod Person handle Sunnydale's night life? As the name implies this is a Scarecrow and Mrs. King cross, but with Joyce taking the place of Amanda King, who shouldn't be in the story at all.

Option 1: A non-supernatural story with Joyce meeting Scarecrow just like Amanda did and then becoming part of the agency to supplement her income from her gallery. How would things play out if Angel, Buffy, Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Jenny, Giles, and Joyce were inhabitants of Gor instead of growing up on Earth. What would their Gorean adventures be like? Changes to other minor characters from BtVS seasons 1 - 3 should also be thrown in without retelling the stories from those seasons though Xander and Willow should find out about vampires and such like they did in canon. Buffy arrives in Sunnydale for the same reasons as in Season One, but even though she knows about vampires and demons she is not the Slayer. Buffy burnt down the gym because she wasn't a Slayer and it was the only way she could think of to keep from becoming a victim.

In fact this reality has no Slayer, just various shadowy hunter groups. It was a rescue by one of those groups that clued her in on the true state of the world. Trying to convince her parents got a very unattractive coat with sleeves that were way too long as part of her wardrobe for awhile.
