| Description | When Ethan invoked Janus' power for the Halloween challenge, isn't it reasonable to think that some other deities or highly-powered beings would have noticed and possibly have decided to take advantage of the chaos Ethan released to further their own purposes? I've already used this idea in several of my own stories to justify why some of the Scoobies retained their costumes powers, so why not let some of the other Sunnydale residents get the same privilege and fun? Maybe Superman's semi-nemesis, Mr. Mxyzptlk, decides that raising havoc on the Hellmouth could be fun, especially if any of the costumes that had been empowered were members of the Superman family. Maybe Odin decides that one of the cheerleaders who dressed as a Valkyrie should remain as such, so that they can escort any suitable warrior who dies fighting evil on the Hellmouth to Asgard. Hela, the Norse goddess of death, has to have noticed the relatively far greater percentage of people leaving Sunnydale for the nether realms as compared to any of the major cities with Gang problems, and she decides that she wants a representative to hang around and direct some of the souls her way, to increase her forces for the day that Ragnarok finally comes calling. This could involve pulling some recently deceased individuals from their home dimensions and plunking them down in new bodies in Sunnydale to suit whatever purposes the deity involved might have. It could even be as simple as rewarding a faithful believer with a second chance to live a new life free of whatever problems they had been dealing with previously. It's also a chance to transport characters from another universe to the Scooby-verse, so we can see how they deal with magic, demons and vampires. Any all-powerful being or god from any pantheon can jump in and have some fun, so show us what you would do as an all-powerful deity. ;-) |
