A GOOD explanation for her immortality
Non-human pairing or no pairing. Meaning no Aragorn or Boromir.
If you choose a Legolas pairing, some trouble with his father.
Fellowship theme.
Find a way to keep Boromir around.
Buffy's Immortality CANNOT be immediatly advertised, but rather found out through some otherwise unsurvivable injury.
Buffy has to have a slight face-off with the Balrog in Moria while Gandalf still gets pulled down with it.
Other than that, have fun, and try to be at least somewhat original with what parts of the plot are flexible.
