| Description | A Radio Drama/Halloween tribute On October 30th, 1938, a ‘meteor’ crashed into a farm in the small village of Grovers Mill, NJ, 5 miles away from Princeton. Professor Pierson of the Princeton Astronomy department came to measure the ‘meteor,’ which turned out to be a spaceship and the vanguard of an invading army of Martians. He made a miraculous escape from their heat rays and poison gas, while the other Martians devastated New Jersey, New York, and the rest of the world. Only the humblest things in the world, the bacteria, could defeat the Martians. Orson Welles' adaptation of H. G. Wells' “The War of the Worlds” was, of course, the greatest Halloween prank of all time. Redo it as follows: Professor Pierson had brought his daughter with him, not knowing she was the current Slayer, and only her help kept the two of them alive. Whether she lets her father know that she is the Slayer is up to you. How you handle the Piersons' trip to New York City is also up to you; do they have the same encounter with the lost soldier? Do they encounter vampires searching for blood? Note that the Slayer cannot effectively fight hordes of Martians in 300 foot-high war machines. “2X2L calling CQ… 2X2L calling CQ… 2X2L calling CQ… New York. Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone on the air? Isn't there anyone… 2X2L…?” |
