Review:
This is great so far. And, from my point of view, a totally new concept. I like that it is not completely from Spiderman's point of view. Everything's cool....except, um, cornrows? WTF, mate? I like that you admit that Peter would be stronger than most demons. Oh, and I like the idea of Dawn/Peter if that is where you are going with this. But, Peter and MJ go together like...like... cookies and milk.... or some other things that go together well. I am open-minded though. (except about the cornrows...eugh. :) )

Anywho, keep it up, I'll be watching for more updates.
Comments from author:
Glad you like it, I'd normallyl agree on Peter and MJ, esp. comicwise, but for the sake of this story, I kinda needed the extra connection that the Dawn/Peter ship brought*g*

And the cornrows, well I did add a pic with Xander's new look and I think he looks pretty good with them*eg* It's basically the idea that he just came from Africa, has spent over a year there and it's a visible sign of the effect that has had on him.

Review of chapter "Hunt" from KevinSchultz
Review:
Huzzah for giving Spidey his dues! He is, in fact, in the top 5% in terms of strength in the Marvel universe - he's beaten out by folks like the Silver Surfer, Thor, the Hulk, the Rhino, and the Thing. (well, and Galactus.) Not too many others, though. The Slayer, while strong, doesn't tend to throw busses around (which Spidey can, in fact, do - cars are easier, though.) Well, and the budget for Spiderman tends to be higher, so his fights are more acrobatic. :)

Regarding the story itself. Nice use of monolog, and I liked the setup. However, Peter's "I wil not kill" attitude seemded a bit heavy-handed. I find one of the hallmarks of Spiderman is his banter, which I don't see much of here. Also, I didn't get much sense of Buffy - she'a also a character that has barbs with the person she's fighting, and I didn't get much of that from her. What descriptions I did get from Peter seemed a bit expository as well.

Recommendation - add in some more banter, on both sides, or else show us why Pete/Buffy aren't their usual usual jabbermouth selves. Tone down a bit on the "I will not kill, but I can idenify a killer a mile away" thing that Spiderman has going - he faces a lot of nasty guys in the comics, and doesn't have that attitude with them. He shouldn't have it here, either, without some sort of good reason. At the least, what agnst Spiderman does have is balanced out by his own sense of humor, which makes Spiderman comics a lot more fun to read than they would otherwise.
______________________________________________________-

EDIT - ah, sorry; I wasn't clear. When I said "heavy-handed", I wasn't referring to him having a "do not kill" attitude; that's certianly been part of the character ever since the beginning. Rather, I was referring to the self-reminders that Pete has going through his head here. I don't mind being reminded of it, but the repetition and focus on it seems off here. I'd expect it from a special event - the anniversary of Uncle Ben's death, or maybe visiting someone's grave, or something. But not for what amounts to the first fight with a previously-unknown foe.
Comments from author:
Actually I based Spidey's "I will not kill" attitude on the comics. Just reread a few older comics and in specific one where he saves even Demogoblin from the Hobgoblin. Peter can be pretty heavy handed with that attitude, hell he even went that way against Blade and he always at least tries to capture the Punisher even after teaming up with him.

I will try to include more banter though, Peter just wasn't in the mood for it when trying to find the Lizard*g*

Edit: good point, I'll try and tone it down in the rest of the fic, but keep in mind that movieverse Peter is not as experienced in dealing with other heroes that do kill as the comic-version of the char is. But don't worry, he's not gonna keep thinking it every few lines*g*. Just wanted to make the conflict between them clear from the first chapter on.

Review of chapter "Hunt" from MBB
Review:
Interesting setup, with the having a co-good-guy observing Buffy's actions without understanding her.

On the other hand, i'm affraid you're not giving Buffy enough credit, she usually does research (or has it done for her) and should not be so week compared to Peter. (would make upcoming the fight interesting, and force them both to think during the fight)
But I hope you're doing this deliberately and will explain Buffy's motivation for her behaviour in future chapters.
Comments from author:
Oh I know, Buffy and her people are likely to do research, but if she's on patroll and she sees a demon causing damage, she's likely to go after him first and kill him before he harms someone. (unless that demon then turns out to be more dangerous than she thought)

The thing is though, Buffy is not nearly as powerful as Spider-Man is. I love Buffy, one of my fave chars out there, but... she can not lift a car, which is something that Spidey does easily. If she tried to stop a train like Peter did in the second movie (even with the help of webbing,) she'd have been crushed.

Which is also the main reason why I made this a crossover with the Spider-Man movie instead of the comics, Buffy simply doesn't fit in the comic-verse, because the chars there are far too powerful compared to her. Hell the closest guy to be her match in strenght would be Captain America and Peter's much more powerful than Cap is.

Of course that doesn't make Buffy helpless, she's at her best when fighting foes stronger than herself. And she does have an army of slayers, a watcher, a veteran who's clocked fieldtime and a watcher in training at her back. (and oh yes that witch she's got over in Brasil if I ever find it in myself to bring Willow in without accidentally bashing her. I hate charbashing, which is why Willow isn't included in the fic)

Good so far, gonna give this a try, though I can't stand Buffy/Spike
Comments from author:
Thanks for trying it, I hope you'll still like the rest of the fic and much as I personally love Buffy/Spike, the fic isn't all about them. (in fact the Dawn/Peter pairing is more essential to the fic in my mind)
