Love the Eagles... Hotel California is one of my favorites. This was awesome.

So, it was nothing to do with blowing up Nazi Heavy Water Plants in Norway then?

Great story.

Hmm, I may need to stop reading for awhile. Devil went down to Georgia and Flash Gordon were fun, but Hotel California can get stuck in your head for days at a time. Fun and enjoyable as ever. Dorothy

All right, I went back and read through it again while looking at the lyrics (can't resist a challenge). The only line I couldn't find an actual reference to (though it is hinted at in a way, I guess) is: "'Relax,' said the nightman; we are programed to receive"

Like I said it is hinted at in a way, since you have the following lines ("you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave") reference and I think most people have so firmly linked the two together that they overlook it (well I do anyway, that's why I didn't notice it the first time).

And if I'm wrong again, would you mind emailing (v_mures@yahoo.com) me the correct answer...otherwise this will drive me nuts for the rest of the night.

Thanks again for such an addictive story. I'm also looking forward to reading more of your "how many roads must a werewolf walk down." Almost made me spurt tea out my nose with that one. :-D

I haven't read the other reviews yet, and I'm sure someone else has already hit upon the answer, but I think the line that wasn't refferenced was "Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air." I really enjoyed this fic, as well as the previous one. Found myself singing "hotel california" throughout the fic.

This is perhaps the best songfic I have ever read. What a wonderful use of a haunting song.
Comments from author:
Sentence 3: "The gentle turbulence within the car occasionally carried the smell of the colitas forward to Xander’s nose as they passed the joint between themselves." Kayla Shay, my beta reader, did find the missing line but its in a private review, so no spoilers await in the public reviews.

I'm glad you enjoyed the story so much.

It's cool to see someone else using the song in a fic. Your version was a lot funnier than mine, and it's interesting how we both used/ignored certain bits over others. This was a lot of fun to read.

Review of chapter "Verse 3" from (Past Donor)kitsunealyc
Review:
Very fun interpretation of the song. I'm thinking the line missing is

"And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"

At least explicitly, although their wondering if it was Sweet could fit that line.
Comments from author:
As an old radio DJ's Jingle here in the UK went: "Quack, Quack, Oops!"

Those are covered by Xander's thoughts when he first meets Tiffany.

Oh bravo! I am so glad you did a sequel to your Devil went down to Georgia Masterpiece. So pleased Faith and Oz are a couple. Don't suppose you'd write an r21 smut fest that described how they first got it on? No, didn't think so, embarassed cough.

Was it sweet summer wine the mising lyric?

Bohemian rhapsody for you next? American pie? The night they drove old Dixie down? Choktaw ridge? Harper valley PtA? trying to think of story songs.
Comments from author:
Your thinking of 'Sweet Summer Sweat' which was present. Not sure what songs next - needs to be something with a story.

Nice use of lyrics here. The missing line is either "mirrors on the ceiling" or "heard the Mission bells," although I'm thinking it's the second, and I've just forgotten the reference to the first.
Comments from author:
Nope - both of those are present although the mission bell reference is a little oblique.

Excellent, and you gave it the perfect title. Clever use of the lyrics. I didn't expect the solution, but of course it was right there in the song. The only problem is, the song is now running through my head...

Very good story. Hmmm. Was the line "Her mind is Tiffany twisted, she's got the Mercedes bends; She's got a lota pretty, pretty boys she calls friends"? It was the only one I didn't find. This was such an interesting concept.
Comments from author:
Nope - Harold described Tiffany's mind as twisted, there was a mercedes in the car park, and she left to dance with her pretty boys in her last scene.
