Awwwww! Hooray for Cadman, for successfully weathering the terrifying ordeal of real intimacy in public, and hooray for the realization that maybe this sort of thing needn't be so scary, after all. Also, I love that Halling is grinning when Beckett and Cadman leave. Thanks for another lovely chapter.

What an excellent collection! I was quite surprised we didn't see more of Laura in Atlantis...so I've loved these wonderfully written insights. The Carson/Laura is great...um, the poker set is funny! It was such a fab throwaway piece of info on the show to learn about the poker night. Um, right...I look forward to reading whatever else you write in this series.

Just a note to say how much I'm enjoying seeing the world (especially the gals' poker night) through Laura Cadman's eyes.
And she should definitely never let Rodney know about the pink, because he would CERTAINLY find a disgusting, pukey shade and put it somewhere it would annoy her the most.

Wow! Just . . . Wow!
By the time I got over the shocking idea of Rodney being a model of mental health for anyone (but hey, he fits Freud's definition of being able to work and love, even if his relationships with his family of origin aren't as close as they maybe could be -- he HAS let himself care about his team), I was totally falling in love with Beckett through Cadman's eyes. The bit with the sweater was perfectly wonderful, and made me think, "Yeah, that WOULD be worth the risk of caring too much and becoming vulnerable again."
Excellent work, and rang very true for those of us who've been there with the domestic abuse, or worked closely with those who've been through that. This chapter is a real Good that you've sent out into the universe.
