Though I know nothing about the cross, I came away from this story with a sense that I knew the character. Interesting idea, too. Well done.

One of my favorite stories back in the day; I remember it from Mediancat's original web site. Where is that now anyway? I wouldn't worry about the Millhone stories being set in the 1980s; the books have taken enough time that their 1980s were 20 years long anyway, sort of like the M*A*S*H TV series.
(I think I channeled this story a bit when I was writing my Chaos & Disorder story.)
