Thank you for having the girls both be surprised that Xander's interested in a guy, and being supportive enough to push Giles into approving Xander's stay.

So, the Sunnydale crew are in contact with the Stargate program, but not everyone knows their background?

Yeah. I don't think they would tell any of the governments involved that they sent someone to Atlantis to keep an eye out, at least not before-hand. There a saying "It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission" that the Scoobies seem to really believe in as far as I've seen.
