Nice. I like how the American Wizarding World is aware of the trouble in England, but regard it as unimportant. I'm guessing they feel the same way about the Hellmouth :)
Mr. Rushes is cool, especially with the 'freely given' clauses. If you ever decide to write a short fic about the creation of the 30-year old wand I think it'd be a very interesting read ;)

a little confused on the visuals here -- why she didn't stop to get robes and a wand, and how a train could also be a port key. liking the overall tone of the story.

The train isn't a port key but its able to cross great distances much easier and much more quickly than a muggle train. Neither Harry or Dawn fully know how so I left it vague.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I really like what you've done with Dawn, but I loathe Dumbledore so anything where he is a major player - unless he is being smacked - is hard for me.
