Not bad could gone into more detail or been a little less vague but it wasn't a bad idea. As for 'done to death' not really from what I have read. Xander as Superman's son, cousin, gaining his powers due to a costume or some other excuse sure. But almost all them base the story much later in Buffy canon, usually saying he had powers since birth but hellmouth or something kept them down and never turn up till much later.
I can honestly say far as I know super powered Xander from start of Buffy series has never really happened, even if he has powers he hides them or something so canon goes on basically like normal.

Actually, I've never seen it done this way before. I've seen Xander dress as Clark Kent for Halloween. I've seen Xander become a champion for the Kryptonian god Rao. I've seen Xander be the time-displaced son of Superman and Lois Lane. This is the first time I've seen Xander as Kal El. It's cool. :)

I for one, like the idea of Xander changing his view on his secret due to the death of Jesse. (or just plain forgetting that he was supposed to keep it a secret, depending on your take)

I've not read a fic where Xander was Kal-El. There are fics where he is turned into Kal or is his son, or various other things, but not one where he was him.
BTW: Great chapter! Can't wait for more.
