interesting crossover choice! love these characters, and really enjoyed seeing them interact. was sorry to see such a broken inuyasha (because, after all, we love him for his irrepressible brashness), but on the flip, was pleased to see a stronger and more confident kagome.

Loving the fic so far^^ I plan on trying to read it all tonight in one go : ) Just a little detail that confused me...didn't you mention Lorne's new bar having the same "no violence" magic as his old bar? If so, how did Inuyasha get away with attacking Kagome?
Comments from author:
Thanks for the feedback.
It's not a "no violence" magic, just a "no violence" rule -- if it's magic in canon, I wasn't aware of that.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *HAPPY DANCE!* I really can't find words for how much I enjoyed this story, 'specially the last two chapters! And Spike ROCKED! more than usual! And Buffy and Willow, weren't perfect! Xan-man was an ass *sighs* But I know that and can deal with it.
And oh, this story was just so damn freaking terrific! Can't WAIT to read the rest *weg*

I enjoyed this story. Yes, there are some things that a 'die hard' fan would probably object to, but, overall, I believe that you did a good job with the characters personalities and with the flow of the story. The only real objection that I had was the idea that Inuyasha would go kill crazy after the initial death of his wife. Him losing it then would be understandable, but the latter times that he killed the slayers that were sent after him wasn't in keeping with his personality. Or, at least, that's what I think. I have been known to be wrong. Again, I enjoyed the story and I am now going to read the others that you have written. It is always a pleasure to find a new author with talent who has several stories to catch up on. Keep on writing regardless of what any of us out here says. Take it easy, Fyrloche.

Hey, now, I said I didn't like the chapter. I still think the story overall is very good. I'm definately going to be looking for the sequels though.
I am kind of curious, are you going to start right up on the sequels or take a bit of a break.
Comments from author:
Sorry to be snarky.
I'm up to my eyeballs in work on my web site at the moment, so no, not immediately.
I am contemplating the idea of a three-way crossover with Beauty and the Beast since the sequel will be set in NYC -- and the concept of Inuyasha, Kagome, Buffy, and Vincent in the same scene just tickles my funny bone -- Vincent would SO be the straight man and with this many characters who are hyperactive, impulsive, type-a personalities, the story almost NEEDS a character who's steady and calm to counterbalance them.
Season One of BatB is going to be released on DVD in about a month, so I may wait for that before starting the sequel. Dunno.
(The problem with BatB is that many younger fans have never even heard of it. It's kindof obscure these days.)

Excellent ending! That was really good. Reading the story is what turned me on to Inuyasha fanfics and over the last week I've read quite a lot of them. The crossovers I've seen before always focus on the Buffy crew and take place in the past. I can't wait to see where you take this next. Are you going to focus on the next "big bad" scenario or get more involved with the relationship aspect (going to see Kagome's family and whatnot)? Just thought I'd ask. Looking forward to more of your stories in the future.

Well, the appeal for me in Inuyasha is the interplay between Kagome and Inuyasha. Not just a romantic aspect, but simply the way two very dominant personalities who adore each other interact. They're both bossy, aggressive, and opinionated, they DON'T always agree, and the result is a fascinating relationship. It's fun to write, if you're a bit of a sadistic writer ... lol.
So anything I write will have a strong Inu/Kag focus. (And there is absolutely no fricking way THOSE two will have smooth sailing from here on out. That's a pet peeve of mine in Inuyasha fanfic ... they may fight over DIFFERENT things as they grow and develop, but they will bicker. Constantly. With enthusiasm.)
But I believe in alpha plots -- I very rarely write stories that are all soap opera, no action. :-) Anything I write tends to have an action plot, with romance and angst woven in.

A fitting enough ending, though there are still things left to resolve --- that looming threat, for example, or their relationship with the slayers. I'll trust that you leave those things to a sequel and look forward to reading it.

Nice. Things are winding down smoothly. The only scene we've yet to see is the one between Inuyasha and the Slayers (I think it's needed and that's just my opinion), though the scene between Giles and Kagome is pretty close to it.

Thanks. :-)
Inuyasha's relationship with the Slayers will be saved for a sequel ... I think it's a big enough issue to deserve its own arc in the next story. I don't think I could resolve anything in one or two scenes, and Inuyasha and Buffy are nowhere near being ready to make nice with each other.

Ehh, I hate to say this but I really didn't like this chapter. I was sure it was cold medicine talking when you first typed three years, but then you continued it. I'm sorry but I've been getting a week to two weeks vibe off this fic. Three years, with Kennedy dead in the first fight, and more Slayers dying? Willow would've been insane by this point. There's no way they'd just be first trying the stuff they tried in this fic after three years. There'd have been rocket launchers, enjoining spells, Willow'd have tried to turn him into a rat. Hell, they'd have just swarmed him enmasse, by this point.
So I guess Courtney got a good view of what was happening? Or did she just not want to admit her friend was escalating a fight? I liked that Buffy had found her grave and talked to her, and her point was right. It's also not the peaceful demons that are keeping things liveable for everyone for the most part.
I also disagreed with the scene with Giles. The Scoobies were built on breaking the rulebook, but even when something worked for them they didn't always stick with it. For example, Willow's magic didn't automatically become their weapon of choice, even though it might've distracted her from playing with it and allowed Buffy more time to find a job. They didn't start looking for modern ways to do eveything after the rocket launcher took out the Judge. And the whole black and white thing, I believe to get that the Scoobies would have to never talk about their history. Buffy dating vampires, Xander and demons, Willow and a werewolf and nearly ending the world, Faith and the Mayor, Giles as Ripper, Kennedy's history whenever she got some sort of power(she was a real bitch and I doubt the Sunnydale SITs let her forget it). The Potentials in Sunnydale hung in a demon bar, and as a source for infor I'm sure it have been mentioned.
And trust has historically been something they gave to freely, not something they denied. They trusted Angel, Ford, Gwendolyn Post, The Initiative, Spike, Ben, Willow trusted Amy and Rack, Xander trusted that fake future Xander, Wood. If Giles was speaking for some of the individual girls, I can understand that. But not the whole group. As I said in the earlier review, it would be a few girls. Any younger girls who were relieved that they didn't have to fight Inuyasha would probably be glad, along with any girls who came in after and found out about the Slayer who got them this powerful ally.
And with the new Slayers, well they have to trust that none of these girls have dark intentions, or that any of the older ones have bad histories, they have to trust the old Watchers won't try to force their philosophy back into place. They have to trust any new people they have in place.

Sorry you didn't like the story. I can't please everyone. Glad I made as many people happy as I did with this one ...

You do a fairly good job with this fic (I like particularly the fact that Inuyasha has not been waiting passively for Kagome to show up and got himself a life). Previously I had only read a decent Inuyasha/BTVS crossover (Buffy the Youkai Slayer). Now, I've read two and will be sure to check the sequel once you write it. Unseelie, you say? Fascinating. Is Oberon going to show up?
Regarding the Sess subdebate among your reviewers, I'm agreeing with the Inuyasha fandom here. Fluffy is a good deal stronger than Inuyasha (who was unhurt by Yuka's enchanted hairs, even though those hairs cut a grown tree to pieces), a good deal faster (the most impressive I've seen of him would be a show of hyperspeed with him becoming a blur during the battle that costs Sess his arm, in the anime) and he has a few more powers to call upon. In other words, Faith should give him a wide berth in the future.

Blacklord -- thanks for the comments. :-)
On the Unseelie ... it'd be interesting to see Oberon and Sesshomaru trade a few blows. *grin* But I'm not sure I'm going to do Shakespearean style faeries or something else. I need to sit down with some books and do some serious research so I don't just end doing accidental Misty Lackey fanfic. (Though the generic concept of "hollow hills" could very well translate to, "Oh, crap, that's a Hellmouth ..." in the buffyverse.)
On Sesshomaru/Buffyverse characters ... I think I've said before, but if both sides were seriously trying to kill each other, the outcome would probably depend on the situation. If Buffy (and, particularly, Willow) had a chance to do some research on Sesshomaru and come up with a plan, he'd be in trouble. If it was straight fight where he was not pulling his punches ... where they came into the fight really unprepared ... they'd be toast. That's this writer's take, anyway, knowing both universes fairly well. Lord Fluffy's strong, but Buffy's clever and willing to make great sacrifices to win.
(The character who could probably take on Sesshomaru mano-a-mano from the Buffyverse would be Illyria. And the potential dialogue alone between the two makes it tempting to work into a story somewhere. Either they'd fall in love or they'd try to kill each other within five minutes of meeting one another ...)
