Review of chapter "Chapter One" from phoukabro
Review:
I read this in the Scatterlings and Orphanages challenge, and I liked it then. It's a great little story showing Xander on his own and giving us a little slice of African folklore.

I've enjoyed reading the drabbles you posted on your livejournal, and look forward to the stories you post here. Keep up the writing.

Thanks for all the feedback you gave for the stories my sister posted. I just got my account here, but I'll probably keep bugging her to post the stories.
Comments from author:
Wow. Thanks for saying. As evidenced by my reviews, I've really enjoyed your stuff too, so it means a lot that you like mine.

Funny story. I don't think I completely understood it, but funny none the less.
Are there going to be more chapters?
Comments from author:
I'm glad you liked it. There will be a sequel, but this story is only one chapter.

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from maiasaura
Review:
On the first read, I caught the gist. I just went back for a second and then a third read, and in between a quick Google search of Eshu, as I'm up on my Greek, but not African, mythology. What an absolutely delightful, tightly put together little gem. The cane? The red feather tipped hat? The cigarette? The shrines with the rather good likeness? Is there a mythos associated with the palm nuts, or is that your own invention? Either way, exceedingly well done, although I do worry that Xander is associating himself with a trickster God, as well as the patron of travelers.
Comments from author:
Thank you for getting it. The fact that you did some extra research is just wonderful and really, really gratifying. And isn't Eshu just the coolest deity ever? Anyhow, there are, in fact 16 palm nuts at the root of prophecy. In one myth Eshu gets them from this mystical tree and takes them back to the moral world. Also, when Yoruba fortune tellers read people's futures they cast 16 palm nuts on a special plate.

Excellent. I hope we see more of your work. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this story, too, but it stands nicely on its own.
Comments from author:
Well, there will be at least one follow up story to this one, but I also have another at TtH. Also check out my livejournal if you like my stuff that much. redrikki.livejournal.com. Thanks for reviewing.

This story is just as fun and funny the second time...
Comments from author:
Thanks for saying so. But will it still be funny after three or four times?
