Please continue this story, I like the way you're weaving it into actual events from the story (Arathorn's death etc). Maybe if she cut the finger off that has the ring? Who knows, it might even grow back.
Hey--which ring IS it? ie did Sauron make a new one just for her? (unlikely). Maybe it's one of the lost 5 Dwarven ones? The 9 for 'mortal men' are all accounted for... can't be one of the Three... but several of the Five are unaccounted for.
