I LOVE this story. I finally broke down and created a username (because while I do have hours to waste on reading fanfic, I do not seem to have the few minutes it would take to register with this site...go figure!) just so I could write you a review and tell you: I love this story. Which I have now told you twice because that's just how amazing I think it is. I love your characterization, I love the subtle hints you've supplied in Dawn's dreams, I love how you've given completely credible reasons for Dawn and Meredith to be acting the way they are.

So, to briefly recap, I LOVE this story. Basically, I'm going to name my firstborn after you. Too much? Yeah, I thought so, too :)
PLEASE keep writing!

Your question will be (partially) answered in the chapter I just uploaded. Dawn doesn't completely remember her life, but her subconscious does, and it's not all that different from the life she's living now.

Dawn as Mere's sister isn't nearly as creative as your choice, but I like the parallels between what Dawn's life would have been like if she was meredith's sister and what it was like as Buffy's after Joyce died. Her sister is her guardian, she lives with her sister and a couple of her sister's friends, she's on the outside of a tight knit group of friends, all of whom are more "powerful" than she is, etc. So, not particularly creative, but hopefully entertaining nonetheless.
