Yeah...I love how, in Buffy, the whole Giant-snake thing just totally blew over. I mean, there were witnesses! Did everyone that wasn't a scooby just head to the bronze and go: "Well...there goes my good deed for the day, now I'll order a couple of beers and forget this ever happened."

Hee! I love the perspective on both post-"Graduation Day" Buffy in Sunnydale and end-of-season-two Clark in Smallville: if it makes the heroes happy to think that they're pulling off the whole "I'm so normal" thing, who has the heart to burst their bubble?

Review of chapter "Small Towns" from Mcspender
Ya know, only in a few fics I've seen this degree of attention about the common people perception of extraordinary beings.
The Smallville people, of course they have known Clark all of their lives, and the rest of Sunnydale people knows about Buffy being the Slayer; but there's something that makes a difference about them.
The people in the DC universe are used to extraordinary beings, and they aren't afraid to fight back, but the people in the Buffy-verse... they don't fight back, they hide in corners and hope for someone to save them.
Of course, it's a darker universe and all, but I never really liked the concept, that only the "Chosen ones" and "Champions" are good enough to do something against Darkness.
Thank for making me think ;).
Comments from author:
Of course, not everybody in the Buffyverse hides. Gunn ran with a gang of vampire fighting street kids after all. But nobody ever seems to tell Buffy about the brave ones.
(And the death rate is probably a little higher than in the DC Universe too...)
