Overlap - Anomalies

Review of chapter "Overlap - Anomalies" from Gideon
Review:
One of the best interactions I have seen between the Asgard and magic. The two are seemingly unable to overlap but I am not surprised that Thor would be open to things that he does not understand. I hope the Slayers do get to talk to Thor at some stage, I'm sure a few Asgard sensors would be useful!

On re-reading this for the umpteenth time, I can't help thinking that you really ought to write a sequel in which Thor gets to talk to Willow.

Review:
Really cool, I love your descriptions of the apocalyzed... apocalypsed... apocalypse-planets :)

Nice to know that not only were they saving the world, that Earth is not alone out there. Yeah, over 99% of the planets in your universe may have no native magic thanks to the lack of dimensional folds, but some do. Which is just cool :D

Hmmm. Is it possible to alienate an alien?

Surely they are already in that state by definition :)

Review:
I wonder what Thor would make of the activation of the key and Sunnydale's collapse.
The Asgard might have not studied people who are magical in nature, so their theory might be wrong. Riley was exposed only.
You have really left this one open.
Comments from author:
Which was sort of the point (insert evil laugh here).

Review of chapter "Overlap - Anomalies" from arkeus
Review:
thanks for another good chapter...hm, wonder if it is because of dimensions walls, the old one (but then , why is anubis not on earth) or simply because of "links to earth", and that one must renew their links to their planets every so often, except when they have links to the universe...
Comments from author:
You’re thinking. I left a pretty big hint in ‘Overlap – Beginnings’ about why Anubis and Earth are different. But rest assured somewhere in my crazy brain lies an answer.

Review:
Very intriguing! Love the way Riley sort of echoes O'Neill's reactions to Thor's abrupt beaming and holographic technology, but also the way his own personality shows through. And I especially appreciated the ideas that a) Buffy and co. really have literally saved the world from getting sucked into a black hole of hellish nothingness, from time to time, judging by what happened elsewhere in the universe, and b) Slayers and Witches, etc., are strictly for earth-bound adventures and battles. Nice work.

Review:
I like the idea of Thor being briefed on the supernatural world by Riley. I'd really like to see another sequel, with the Overlap occurring on the Scoobie side of the fence this time, although I'm not sure if I want it shoehorned into canon like the other stories or split off into an AU of mutual disclosure (perhaps in the SGA timeframe with the Asgard picking up "Anomalous radiation" in the Pegasus galaxy, prompting "The Briefing of General Jack"). Am I correct in assuming that BtVS season 7 corresponds to SG-1 season 1 in this series?
Comments from author:
You’re pretty close on the timeline. Assume the Stargate movie took place over the summer between season’s five and six of BtVS. Stargate season one began roughly at the same time as Buffy season seven. ‘Chosen’ occurs a couple of month’s before the SG season one finale. Remember Buffy seasons tended to correspond to a nine month school year while Stargate’s seasons have generally covered a full twelve calendar year. So ‘Chosen’ in April, ‘Within the Serpent’s Grasp’ happens around August/September. Riley joins the SGC in late October of that year.

As for AU elements. You’ll see …

Review:
The dissipation was a brilliant way to make sure that Slayers, demons, and the magic-oriented don't become standard SG teams. Cool.

Something else I enjoyed? "“I think so,” Riley said. “And if I’m right I owe some people some very big ‘thank-yous’ the next time I see them. And if what I think happened on those planets out there is correct I also owe them some apologies for not always taking them seriously when they talked about apocalypses,” Riley shook his head. “They really have been saving the world.”" Since this was my biggest problem with Riley--it never seemed to me he took them seriously, it was wonderful to see him actually say it. Made it much less work to like him, and you pointed out the issue without bashing, which is something else I truly appreciate.
