Review of chapter "Chapter One" from KingDarius
granted, its been a few years since i read lotr, but wasn't part of the reason the elves left middle earth was because if they stayed they would become mortal? that blows a pretty big hole in your story of legolas being alive in modern day new york. and honestly, the fact that it is a lotr cross makes me hesitant to read any further. ill give the next story a shot though.
Comments from author:
Hmm...I'm also unsure about elves becoming mortal. From what little I've researched, elves would not become mortal, but would slowly diminish in power as their natural surroundings became the property of, and affected by the nature of mankind. There is a lot of speculation about what precisely this means, but I don't think any of us can say what Tolkien had intended it to mean (if indeed Tolkien did, himself; he tended to contradict himself in the small details of his world).
Naturally, fanfiction is able to ignore, subvert, and/or completely screw around with canon; that's what fanfiction is and does by its very nature. Therefore, I say that Legolas was able to adapt to the changes around him and keep his elvish nature even through the millennia of mankind's rise to power.
Quite frankly, the fact that you would choose to read stories on a crossover fanfiction site signifies that you yourself don't hold too tightly to canon...I am glad, however, that your interest was piqued enough to cause you to read this; it's always nice to know that I can bring in even skeptical readers :)

I like it!

One question though: Is Aurora Munroe supposed to be Storm?
if so then her name should be 'Ororo'
Comments from author:

I've had this same question in a couple previous reviews.
My explanation is that, in this case, it's just my personal preference. I know that 'Ororo' is the original African spelling, and is canonical, but I've had several friends protest that particular spelling. Since then, I've gone with the English manner of spelling the name, which, because English is my first language, is more attractive to me personally. It is a personal preference, and I really don't blame anyone for being aggravated with my 'mis-spelling'. Sometimes I can get rabid over small canon errors, myself.

I disagree with you. I read this WITHOUT reading the so-called sequel, and I understood it perfectly. It would be nice if you would actually put these stories into the same series-block so that they can be more easily accessed in the correct order.

Danke, I'm off to read the other story now!

That does clear up a lot. And it let me update my list. So, now that I will not look like a complete pillock, I will review the other one.
