This is great. Of course, I had to discover it through a rec because I don't really like the Anita-verse. And you nailed one of the many reasons why I don't like it.
I wouldn't worry too much about the legalities of the treaty stripping constitutional rights from US citizens. It's not like the US constitution's worth more than toilet paper these days, or ever was really.
For instance, the 9th (?) amendment which guarantees the unenumerated rights (things which people 200 years ago assumed they had like privacy which they couldn't even conceive losing) has been "interpreted" by the US Supreme Court to guarantee ... nothing.
And let's not get into ECHELON which the Anglo countries use to spy on their own citizens by proxy. To say nothing about mass wiretapping in the USA today.
So basically, 'murder of their own citizens by proxy'? Snort, like that's at all surprising. There's a reason the USA's a third world (ie, low-trust) country. And it's not called the Evil Empire for nothing.

You realize, that all it takes is one wrongful death lawsuit against a Slayer or a Watcher for staking a vampire, and that treaty between the US and Britain would be broken by court order? The whole 'threaten the Master' scenario is fun to contemplate, but Jean-Claude didn't get where he is by being stupid. Going up against a Slayer is a good way to get staked, but Jean-Claude also has lawyers. Addison v. Clarke more or less recognizes that the Constitution does not require being human as a prerequisite for having rights. All it would take is someone challenging that treaty, that strips citizenship rights from American citizens, in a federal court, and it would be struck down as unconstitutional. Such a challenge could easily come in the form of a Slayer being killed or injured in self defense by a vampire or other preternatural creature, since under the law, such a thing would be investigated by the police, and charges filed.

I can't reply to your comment by email, since it's not listed (mine is difdi@comcast.net). Writing notes to each other this way is awkward at best.

You know, I really hadn't thought of that...
Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure what I should do to fix my legal screw-up. Any suggestions?

Wesley is tough. The character changed so much from his original introduction, thrown into the deep end of the library, through the end of Angel and behaved so differently with each of the other JW characters that it can be extra difficult to write Wes in such a way that all of the facets of the character are shown. I think alot of folks just don't know where to start trying.
Other wise - yum! More please.

Yeah. I have to admit, I really liked the darker Wes from S3 on. So Badass!Wesley was really my inspiration for most of this fic. I'm glad you liked it!

No, thank YOU! Your challenge really inspired me to even think of this plot bunny, so some credit definitely goes to you. Personally, I was kind of pleased with the results.

Oh, this was just great! Wesley was so cool, Jean-Claude was trembling in his boots, and Faith was...well, Faith-ish. AND no following the extermination permit thingy to hunt and kill, they have a license to kill from the Queen of England.
Nice explanation of merging Anita Blake and Buffy timelines. The explanations were very probable sounding. All in all, wonderful and you simply must write either a continuation or another in the same universe. Too funny!
