Actually, you still have captain in at least two more places...
Nice story though.

Grr ... I will have to go in again. Sorry about that. I'm trying to get it right. Thank you SO much for letting me know. I'm very proud of how well I usually write and getting things wrong knocks me down a few pegs (not that my ego can't always use it.) Stupid military words. Getting right on that. - D ----- and it's done!! I read it over twice, so I'm hoping I did it right.
Good job. As you've already been told, a Naval Captain is equivalent to a Colonel in the other service branches. The dead officer, as you describe her, is probably a lieutenant.
For future reference:
Navy Other branches Ensign Second Lieutenant Lt. Junior Grade First Lieutenant Lieutenant Captain Lt. Commander Major Commander Lt. Colonel Captain Colonel

Heh...for some reason...this fits! I can see Gibbs knowing about vamps and just shrugging it off a s business as normal.
I can almost see him drinking his coffee, waiting with a stake in one hand, staking the vampire just as they wake up, and resume sipping his coffee as if nothing unusual was happening. Or worse yet, the vampire wakes up and knocks his coffee out of his hand...which would piss Gibbs off.
Very cute! Leave it to Abby to have Spike and Xander on her cell phone memory!
And NATURALLY, Gibbs would be completely on top of things, in spite of what his well-meaning co-workers assumed about his knowledge (or lack of knowledge) of the undead.

Good one. For future reference, though, no one who has made Naval Captain could be considered a 'girl'. That rank is the equivelent of Colonel in the other services. She would have been somewhere around 40.
