Well penned! Good job turning a wholly unexpected song into a BtVS fic. Plus, I enjoyed the surprise ending (and they all lived happily ever after, or as close as possible in the Buffyverse).
Comments from author:
Thank-you, and you know I do like a 'happy ending' once in a while.
Odd, middle managers make a ton of money, plenty to see the world in style. But I guess Lucy had a 'Steve McQueen' syndrome or something, just wanted the action, to live dangerously and apparently so did her husband, whatever floats their boat. Never heard the song that I can remember, but the singer was famous years ago.
Comments from author:
My experiance is that middle management never have the time to take those vacations, or won't make the time.
Yep this song was from the late sixties or early seventies...at least I remember hearing it and not quite understanding it on the radio when I was young!
Cheers, D.

Others mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but I instead thought of the first Eliza Dushku movie I ever saw: True Lies. Great story, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Makes the song a much happier thing, too. =]
Comments from author:
Well thank-you. The original Lucy song was a bit sad, but it just had enough wriggle room to make it into a happy ending (bit odd for me but there you go).
I've often thought about 'True Lies' as a xover but I've not come up with a plot line to do it justice...yet.
All the best, DaveT.

Hey, you could do a "The ballad of..." series. A few spring to mind: Davy Crockett (George Burns), Michael Valentine (The Killers), Barbara (Johnny Cash), John & Yoko, and of course the one with the most interesting possibilites, Chasey Lain (The Bloodhound Gang).
P.s. Typo in the summary: none => non-
Comments from author:
Ballards hmmmm. Davy Crockett I've heard (ages ago; DAVY...Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!) didn't he look like John Wayne and die at the Alamo?
John&Yoko? "Standing in the dock at Southampton..." Always thought that was a bit silly. I mean they'd get awfully wet and they might get run over by a ship or something.
I can't say I've heard of any of the other songs (they must be homemade American songs!).
No I'm thinking my next short fic might well have the words; "If she weighs the same as a duck, she must be a Witch!" In it, we'll see. But I have found the script...have I mentioned how much I love the Internet?
What was that song by 'Cheerful' Kenny Rogers? "RUUUUUBY...don't take your love to town..." Maybe she wasn't just some woman cheating on her crippled war veteran husband? Maybe she was a Slayer?
Makes you think.
Thanks for all the idea's (Revenge is a dish best served cold) MAW-HA-HA!
All the best, DaveT.

Cool fic dude!!. An special assignments slayer and watcher field team, it could a really good crossover with the Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie or with the Seattle slayers=).
By the by, do you really look like Michael Chiklis? I kinda picture you like a younger version of Christopher Lee... in the Hammer house films ;).
See ya!!
Comments from author:
Yes it's quite scary really! I'm taller and it only really works when I've had my hair cut real short. I can always tell who the 'Shield' fans are as they do a double take if I walk by!
Glad you liked the fic. I thought the idea of roaming Slayer teams was quite sensible, especially when the Slayers are still trying to sort themselves out. I don't know if anyone else has picked up the idea. It would make doing xover easier. Your Slayer could turn up anywhere in the world. An idea for the future maybe?
All the best, DaveT.

What can I say but, "Cool man!" You made me smile as I read the second half of your story and I just like the idea of a husband and wife Watcher/Slayer team.
Comments from author:
Glad I can still keep the 'Fans' amused!!!
I seem to remember in the 'Tales of the Slayers' (A great series of Slayer books-recommended) that there was mention of several Husband/Wife Slayer/Watcher teams.
Thanks for the review.
All the best, DaveT.
