Review:
Hee! I do like Sam and Rodney best when she gets the last word (and gets to leave him speechless like that). Looking forward to a sequel, if you're so inclined.

Hey, creative set-up and excellent tech explanation :D
... I didn't find the romance very interesting, though.
Reply: Yep, slow at first is the right way to go, especially with those two :)
Comments from author:
Glad you liked the tech part; I had fun with it.
I don't really see Sam/Rodney either, but it was better than the other options I was given; and I just can't see them being all lovey-dovey in canon. Besides, I have trouble writing stories that leap right into 'ship without any explanation. Sorry about that!

Sam needs to remember that she recently visited an alternate reality in which she had married, and divorced, Rodney. (Episode 10.13 "The Road Not Taken")
Comments from author:
I did remember the existence of that episode when writing this, but it seemed to me that after all of the alternate Jacks-and-Sams, and what *didn't* necessarily follow from those examples, she's learned to ignore what alter selves and alter others got up to as not necessarily applicable to the real world. I don't think it would be the first thing on her mind more than six months later when faced with her own universe's rude, exasperating Rodney on Atlantis. Maybe if things went further than what I've sketched here.

Bweeeee!!! This story is just so many kinds of awesome! I love that Sam is absolutely as big a Trek geek as Rodney is, and also that she sees how he has changed over the past 4 years. I couldn't stand him either, but by the end of the first season, I loved Rodney McKay. Thank you so much for sharing this! It was a ton of fun. *grins*
