Arthur C. Clarke described a virtually identical incident in one of his Tales From the White Hart stories in the 1950s. Truth has to try REALLY hard to beat fiction...
Thanks for that - there really doesn't seem to be much American Gods fic around, which is odd considering how easily it merges with so many other fandoms.

Marcus, thanks for starting this one. I hope my addition will help other's to add to this story.
James, who didn't understand the strange attraction to drabbles until I tried to write one. It is not easy to use just a 100 words, exactly! Quite challenging.
