Beautiful. Very creative and this time I also enjoyed the romance. I found it appropriate when usually it's forced. Very good.
Comments from author:
It's always tricky to write romantic fic for the Doctor, because the character itself resists it, so I just tried to find a way to develop a romance for him that would work with his character, and there's something about Buffy that would make it natural. Anyway, thanks for reviewing.

I'm not a really big Dr. Who fan, but that was well done. I can't believe that you managed to pull it off, and still have it be canon BtVS. Bravo (and a vote)!
Comments from author:
Well, hopefully I'll help convert you. =) Would you believe that I knew the ending before I started the story? Thank you so much, and I very much appreciate the vote.
I might have been sceptical about the pairing idea when I started reading it- Buffy and the Doctor? Now THAT is a clear example of clashing personalities to say the least!-, but as it went on, they actually worked out pretty well. The two of them actually made for a very moving couple, both of them providing somebody else who understood the burden of being alone against the monsters, and the tragedy of their final parting was BRILLIANTLY well written...
Plus, of course, you managed to do something that I've always found to be one of the most difficult details when writing a Doctor-related romance; you remembered that he's not human.
Even when he realises that he loves Buffy, the Doctor is still clearly a Time Lord, with at least SOME trouble relating to her on the human level; congratulations on finding the balance.
Keep up the good work!

So glad that you enjoyed it. A lot of people have shared your skepticism about the relationship, but I'm proud to say that I've converted many to the 'ship. The compliments on the writing and characterization make me particularly happy. Thanks for the review, and I hope that you also enjoy the other stories in the series as they stand so far (so much yet to write, and so little time).

Cool and poingent twist. I'm glad you've written more of this story for me to check out.
Comments from author:
Yeah. Stories are so much easier to write when you start off with an ending. The tag with Spike was the first thing I wrote on this. It seems to really affect people, maybe because it inverts the ending of Doomsday. Anyway, so happy that you enjoyed this fic, and I love getting reviews, so thank you again.

I guess Buffy going through the 'Gift' portal is pretty standard. Most of the rest of this chapter was motivated by desire to get the exposition over with as expediently as possible, so that I could send them off to adventures. I hate huge blocks of exposition, so I had the Doctor do it for me. Glad you like it.

That last chapter made me cry. Really cry, not just a little wibble. I can't come up with anything else to say except that i loved it and now I'm off to read the rest.
Comments from author:
Y'know, enough people have said that the last chapter made them cry, that I sort of wonder what I tapped into there. This is the fic that got me back into fanfiction after many, many years, just because it demanded it be written. So glad that you enjoyed it, and I hope you enjoy the rest of their adventures.

Oh, god. I am crying. The Doctor! They were so happy. Stupid bitch Willow. The Doctor was so desperate, and I just can't help but cry for them. Poor Buffy.
I like how you fit this whole story into how things played out in Buffy, so it seems perfectly logical and wonderful. Everything was so in character. I just wish they didn't have to let go of each other.
I don't think the Doctor will really take down Buffy's nest. Or, if he does, he'll seal it and its contents in his and her room, and just keep that sealed away safe and sound so no one else can defile it or bring her memory to light.
Wedding Singer's "Grow Old With You" was playing on my jukebox while I read chapter three. And it has Billy Idol introducing Adam Sandler's character as he sings the song. The coincidence really made me laugh. The laughing happened before I read this chapter. Now it makes the crying and sadness worse. *sniff* Poor Doctor is always being left alone. And Willow ripping Buffy out of Heaven, metaphorical or not, is just evil.
Comments from author:
Oh, don't be too harsh on Willow, she did believe that she was rescuing Buffy from Glory's hell dimension. She makes up for it in the sequel.
Lots of your favorite bits were also my favorite bits to write. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
