Review of chapter "Part Twenty" from maxthehobbit
Review:
I like the way you write Willow, it's just exactly how I like my Willow. Shy, but with enough guts to do what she needs to do when a need arises. Staying with SR-1 instead of going with SG-1 was the right thing to do ... she's the best at rescuing people and should stay where she's needed most, but that could change. What ever she does, she'll make Captain anyway, it's automatic unless you resign or get thrown out.
Great series so far, you can bet I'll read the rest of it.
Thanks for sharing!

Now this feels much more finished. Sure there is room for more, there always is. Check out the Xanth series by Piers Anthony sometime, it went into the teens of novel length books. The first two parts of this series really tell one story. A good one. Willow does need time off for training her magic sometime tho. Thanks for the fic.

This was a simply incredible sequel! I loved everything about it :-)

I loved the look into Willow’s new life at the SGC and how she’s grown/changed since the last story. Your characterization of her is still amazing and just as well written – I sincerely love how you write Willow. I also love (adore, really) how close she is with her team (SR-1) and how crazy protective they are. It really is sweet that she found people, a team, who respect her and her ‘talent’ and are fiercely driven to keep her safe, even from within SGC itself. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story :) I like how they’re compared to SG-1 with how close of a team they are.

I also liked how you kept it pretty realistic with some people (basically everyone) being a “little” suspicious of Willow’s rescue results. But because of loyalty and gratitude, anyone who was rescued by Willow and her team kept quiet to keep it down. Pretty much the issue with Willow’s talent was really well done.

The whole plot with Sam and SG-37 needing to be rescued and Willow’s team not available, and her having to lead/work with SG-1 instead was just spectacular. I *loved* the interaction between Willow and Jack and of course the wonderfulness of Willow and Daniel. I loved how Willow was constantly nervous around Jack but still held her own against him and showed just how good she really is at what she does. She really is awesomely badass, with still fundamentally Willow. The whole thing with the mission on the planet and the baddies behind it was seriously interesting... The drama was high throughout and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time waiting to see what would happen next. It really was a thrilling read – it had awesome action and tension and the “final battle” was everything I could have hoped for.

The Willow/Daniel bits were like I said earlier, wonderful. I enjoyed how much closer they became while on the planet, and by not even talking most of the time! The ending was simply lovely too and I loved how you’re not rushing them and are keeping Willow’s issues with the past in mind.

Anywayyy, this sequel was amazing and I really did enjoy reading it, a lot. So, thank you for writing this very entertaining read – Sorry for the long and rambling review though! :D

This is a really good story. It shows Willow has more depth, not just a witch and not a die hard lesbian. Good job on the mission. I liked the way she wasn't all powerful, but had to work to get the job done, overcoming obstacles and not being so perfect. Going to read the next part now, I'm sure it's going to be interesting.
Thanks for writing and posting this story.

Fabulous story! I love the way you write the SGC folks, you've got them all dead on the money. I'd say especially Jack and Daniel, but you've got Kawalski, too (and, man, do I ever miss that guy)!

Looking at "Heroics", I see it isn't finished and hasn't been updated since January of 2009. Is that one abandoned? I really don't want to start reading it if it's not going to be completed.

Thanks so much for sharing this series, I've greatly enjoyed what I've read!

Poor Paul. I've not read the rest of this yet, but I do hope you give Major Davis a bit to do in this, since the poor guy gets as little love in fan fiction as he does in canon.

“I care for you, Sir,” she blurted out before she talk herself out of it.
Oh for the love of god! She confessed that she cared for him and she called him SIR!?! How messed up was that?

Less messed up than the whole Sam-Jack dynamic...
Kinda cool to see this out way early!

“I do.”
I do? I do what? I do want to report the insane Lieutenant to the General? I do feel awkward? I do worry? What? He couldn’t just say that and not follow it up with, say… something like an explanation? “You do what, Sir?”
“Reciprocate.”
The entire world stopped.
That’s what it felt like.

I'll really have to explore this style of writing. Bullet prose, is that what it's called?

Snail pace too slow? No, that was too fast. How about micro-snail pace?

There are some seriously fast microsnails around these days

He was obsessed with her in a ‘have to protect her at all costs’ kind of way.

oh dear...

Daniel took back every mother hen comment he ever said to Jack.
SR-1 brought new meaning to the term.

lol - not that he'll ever tell Jack that

It was like some unspoken law that when Willow saved you, you saved her.

so SG37 kept their mouths shut too?

Daniel had to wonder how many other teams covered for her as well? ...No one wanted to say anything that would get Willow pulled from the program. Most people had begun to believe the rumours, about Willow being psychic, and it gave them a little more assurance that they would be rescued if she was there.

Cool. Whatever works. But sooner or later someone officious type - or just a jerk - who made it through the tests will break the rules.

Daniel had been outraged that Sam hadn’t been given the command, and, he was going to be again, if the General and Jack didn’t give it to Sam this time.

Yay! I never quite understood how Cam ended up in charge on the telly. I figured it was coz the targeted SG audience - including, sadly, women - didnt want a female lead.

“Me? Me? Oh no… it wasn’t me who wanted to learn how to thread the needle. THAT was Rosenberg. Rosenberg gets ME into trouble. It wasn’t my idea to start a dirt bike race down the mountain, remember that?”

lol!

Great fight scene!

Instead of going to her, the dagger flew off the ground and imbedded itself in the chest of alien number three.
Ok… no more summoning things telekinetically.
Lucky it didn’t come flying at her.

But a wee bit lucky. Too lucky. Then again, maybe the balance demons are doing their job for once?

It was time to retire from the field.
No way in hell he was putting his team in danger like this again. If anything happened to Carter, he’d be responsible. Christ. He could not freaking believe this was happening! He had been dreading this day for so long. He hated it so damn much!

gotta feel for da man

Review:
It did hurt like a bitch and hearing Willow talk like that reminded him how military she really was. Daniel could see a lot of Sam in her, someone who was smart, beautiful, and career minded but he could see something else in her.
He could see a lot of Jack in her.

And since Daniel has the secret hots for both Sam & Jack, no wonder he falls for Willow ;-)

"I trust you implicitly. Not once did I ever think you were taking advantage of me and not once have I done anything because of fear of exposure. I’ve tried to impress you, I’ve also been embarrassed, horrified, that I was so weak in front of you but I’ve never feared you.”'

wow, that's a lot for her to say - when it comes out, it really comes out

“So, in answer to your question. No, Daniel, you weren’t taking advantage of me.”
Jesus! How could her saying his name make him feel like this? His heart exploded out of his chest. Ok… maybe now he understood why she didn’t call him Daniel. It was so personal, intimate.

This is beyond romance. That's pretty rare even in romance books, let alone fanfiction.
