Review of chapter "Part 8" from ChefJackButler
Review:
This was a pretty good story until Giles got raped by Jean-Claude and it was presented as "rape = good thing."

Hi...love how this is developing. Loved the introspections from Giles-insight into his mind always excites me. He's the one character I wish they'd done more with. Sigh....on to the next, they just keep getting better and better

Another awesome story. I love these stories. In fact, until I read the Key Watcher story, I had never had any interest in Anita Blake. Now, I have read all but two of her Anita Blake books. I look forward to Dark Haven. I'm not a big fan of slash, but with Jean-Claude and Giles, it just makes sense. I can hardly wait for the next story.

Whoo-hoo! This is fantastic, as usual. Your work is always top-quality, and this chapter was no exception. As to the spin-off, I think it's an excellent idea! Keep up the great work!

What a fantastic ride this first half has been. It has all the necessary elements to make it a nailbiter in the extreme, with wonderful doses of compassion and emotional complexity to make it absolutely addictive. The bookending with the youth minister comments was delightful, and I think BUffy would make an excellent spectre. I can imagine her like the couple in Beetlejuice, wearing sheets and rattling chains. Your stories are filled with warmth and life from beginning to end, and I've relished each and every chapter.

I can't wait to see what you'll do next, both the all audience parts and the slashy bits. Though I never though I would ever say it, I think I'm looking forward to a Giles/JC pairing. You've made me believe, and whether it's a comfortable feeling or not, I'm sure you'll handle the situation with delicious delicacy that's the trademark for your Giles interactions.

Good luck with the next part, and I'll be eagerly waiting each and every bit. Vampire politics ahoy!

We expect better of Giles. He should have gone after the Vampire Counsel himself.

A bit silly? Hmm, well, that's a sight to see. And definitely a twist I didn't expect, though it works very well in the context of the story. I was wondering how you'd manage the human servant thing, but since he's now ... um ... property of the triumverate rather than JC, it takes on an entirely different spin. Very nicely written, full of rich emotions and delcious charactrizations. Wonder read, as always,

I read the three parts to this in one sitting - it was just too good to stop. This has to be the most seamless AB/BtVS crossover I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Kind of hard to pick out what parts I liked best although the idea of pervy ghost Buffy made me giggle loudly. The family dynamics you have built between Giles and Dawn are lovely to read. I am looking forward to seeing what else you choose to do with these characters.

I am really enjoying reading this series. I've never been fond of Giles but I love the way you write him in these stories. He and Dawn have such a wonderful relationship and adding Buffy to the mix just makes it even more intreguing. I'm really looking forward to more in this series!

Okay, What would Anita do in such a situation, If somebody says he had/has the information to end the world?
Of course she is going to point a gun at him. I think the only reason why she would point a gun at him if she was in a too much of a shock. But I don't think that any shock could be that big to halt her.

Fantastic exposition so far. A very skillful introduction of the major players in Giles's narrative, as well as a skillful selection of truths and half truths that would fit very well with the mentality that Giles has shown on the show. Anita is presented fairly, so often she's the trigger happy bitch, or the maudlin over sexed woman with no control. Your portrayal is a relief, while staying in the bounds of the canon perpsective. Loved Giles' trick of thinking in Sumerian, as well as the tie back to Ethan and his games. Fantastic all around.

Review:
I've been following the story ever since the beginning, but neglected to comment on its quality, simply for the fact that being a non-native English speaker, my vocabulary isn't nearly extensive enough to describe the sheer beauty of your play of words, characterization, and the joy it brings to me personally.

It's rare for people to write a good Anita Blake fanfiction, since the books themselves focus a great deal on deep characterization, full of inner monologues of Anita and her point of view, which makes it difficult for fans to imitate her by the usage of 'I' in stories. Even harder is to write a crossover, as most of the Anita Blake characters are very 'intense', in all sense of the world, difficult NOT to loose focus simple because of the number of people that are important and deserved to be included in a story. You however, has done wonderfully by simply bypassing the block that makes most authors overextend themselves by trying to include everything, you focused the story on Giles and his thoughts, which gives the stories a very Anita-verse flavor, yet through BtVS view. You focused on characterization, giving a 'why' and 'how' to everything before you move on, detailing to the finest points instead of just trying to 'get it over with', you made good use of fillers to further plot development. Original, and quite refreshing from the usual 'Buffy is the main character' or ' falls through a portal and falls in love with '.

After reading the newest chapter, I raise a question/comment: Isn't the U.S. the only country that legalized vampires? Thus, couldn't Giles have just move to another country, Canada, or somewhere in Europe, (like England, for example), and stake all the vampires he'd like without getting arrested for it?

Wow. Absolutely fantastic. You've got Giles down to the core... His distrust in vampires, but his need to protect Dawn... And let's not forget the peeping Buffy... ;)

Sitting at work, reading, because the library in summer is deader than Jean-Claude and Angelus combined. Just thought I'd leave a review, for once.
