Very nice beginning, with so many possibilities. You've got the DW elements down perfectly. Good footnotes, intriguing glimpse of what promises to be a great backstory, and excellent cameo by the Death of Rats--I look forward[1] to him coming for Scabbers. I guess Harry and Ron [2] completely misunderstand the appropriate use of the Count's notes, and no doubt chaos levels will continue to rise. I don't think the Wizarding world is ready for this Harry [3]. (1) Despite the number of years since an update, there's always hope. (2) Being only 11, they lack experience in post-Birds-and-Bees occasions. (3) Not that they ever show signs of being ready for anything outside the normal. Great fun!

FOUR YEARS Catbert? Four years and not a single update....I think you need to PLEASE sit down with GoDogma and wrote some on your older fics. I have been reading all your older work and I agree with what some are saying....UPDATE!!! No really please see if you can do some work on the older fics and update them for folks. These are pretty good interesting works and they are just languishing here. I will continue to read ALL your work to see how many are good enough to admonish you to finish. LOL

Ron and Ginny?! ROTFL. You get a 10 just for that! 60 seconds later and I still can't stop laughing.
I hear you on endnotes. It's unfortunate that most websites don't support side-notes. They would if web programmers weren't idiots trying to replicate the functionality of paper.
Here's an example of a website that does support side-notes so you can marvel at the beautiful typography and the whole computer-orientation of it.
please stop with the numbers (1) your not as good as sir terry with them
most of the things you used them for dont even need them, just add the dicriptions in on the next line, like you did, but without all the (#) buisiness to break the flow.
still, cool story, raised by granny weatherwax and nanny ogg, then trained by the guild? now thats a combination from hell. i almost pity draco and snape... almost.
(1) or at least, please put the notes at the bottom, thatway they dont break the flow of the chapter

Oh... wow. This is fun! I can't wait to see Snape try to bully THIS kid. The only downside so far is that Pettigrew would have seen what Harry showed Ron, and might try to use the information.
