Review of chapter "Chapter 3" from Midnmax
Review:
You were doing were doing so well until you started talking about the .45 shell, at which point you jumped the shark.

You can tell the caliber of the round from the casing, but that's about all. If you have the gun in question and have recovered one of the slugs, you can fire a test one and compare the rifling, but that's not from the casing. Micro-dots on the firing pin have been proposed in legistation, but all it would require to render them useless is taking a file to the firing pin, which is one of the reasons it hasn't been passed. If you had the firearm serial number, you could find out who the original purchaser was or the last time it passed through a Federal Firearms Licence holder, like a gun store - any private sales would be unknown.

And Xander, even post-Halloween, is highly unlikely to know anything other the caliber from a shell casing, even if his soldier has be spec-ops. Cause spec ops troops don't care that much about shell casings - they are spent rounds. And unless the soldier reloads ammo personally, the only time he would handle the round is taking it from a box and putting it into a magazine. The only type of person who would be able to get any info from a shell casing would be a forensic expert specializing in firearms, and that would be using microscopes, mass-spec, and other expensive pieces of equipment.

And spec-ops people do not have any firearms that a civilian can't get (in a semi-automatic format) (excluding crew-served weapons, anti-tank missiles, etc). They have specific manufacturers that often have higher quality / reliability than the general military, like using a HK45 instead of a Berreta M9, but they aren't unique. Some of the other gear may be uncommon, like the communication gear, but it's the quality of the people and their training that put the special into spec-ops, not any of their toys.

I realize that you are trying to make is sound "tactical and dangerous", but really, that section only sounds ridiculous.

Overall, I have been enjoying the story, but section just made me want to rip my hair out - it sounded so silly.

Good showdown! And the Deadly Trio were pretty smart to have a trump card to make their escape. I think of this chapter, my favorite scene was Snyder ranting about the gym and ending up looking like a fool.

Review:
Ahhh, good ol' Snyder; just has to act like the s*** he is. Maybe he and Stein are brothers separated at birth or something. It's good to know that the kids hadn't been eaten yet. And loved the wounded bait routine that they pulled on Angelus and his minions. The upcoming fight should be interesting.

Review:
Enjoyed the teasing of Duncan. The 'gathering' of Immortals was impressive, even if there was a small amount of tension. And the first conflict between Buffy and Steve over his methods was nicely done and very angsty. But I'm happy that she was able to sooth him once she knew the story. Something tells me this isn't the last lesson she and her gang will have to learn about the darker side of the human world.

Too bad Buffy had to learn about the ugly side of Immortals. Not to mention the vigilantism of Steve and the others. At least she got to see the other end of the spectrum at the monastery.

Review:
Man, that Stein is a major a**! Couldn't Angelus drain him or something? The 'Army of Light' sounds pretty nifty to have on speed dial. Still think it's a little OOC for Buffy to throw herself at Steve so soon, but it's great that he didn't take advantage or reject her outright. They sound like a formidable team for the side of Good. But she'll have to keep a close eye on the women circling around him.

Mass producing wooden weapons, very cool. Glad that Buffy has someone (Scully) that she can talk to. Her friends are great and all, but they really can't understand what she's dealing with. But love Oz's protectiveness - good wolfie! Can't believe what Buffy said to Steve, thought she was still too broken up about Angel. Yeah, the Watchers Council needs to get their heads out of their a**es.

Review:
Tough gig! Not only is she the Slayer, but now she has to do it indefinitely? Steve's multitude of commrades are starting to pile up, ehh? It'll be nice when Buffy can wrap her head around the new changes. And having this guy on their side considerably increases their chances for survival.

Review:
"What do you think THEY are? A street gang on PCP?" Great line! Swell knights in shining armor to save Willow and probable allies for the Scoobies. Just wish they had been able to rid the world of Angelus. X-file Immortals...wild. And to connect them through family to Steve is handy. Didn't think Xander had gained *that* much knowledge from the Halloween costume. Guessing that Buffy's pains aren't due to the school lunch special, huh?

Review of chapter "Chapter 2" from (Current Donor)mmooch
Review:
Slightly wiggy how Joyce is drooling over a guy she's trying to push on Buffy, not to mention she thinks he's 24 years old. Should be fun to see those two battling it out over vamps. Add the X-files and there's the makings of a party.
