My slashy little heart really wanted you to have Gibbs take Tony's ass before having it tatoo'd with Property of LJG.
Comments from author:
LOL... if you want more slash between the two of them, go check out my livejournal. I have many, many NCIS stories over there that are not posted on TTH since I tend not to post my non-BtVS related stories over here.

A fun take on a complicated relationship. The author tries to fill-in some of the background in Tony and Gibb's relationship and does an excellent job.

If you are a person who likes the show and enjoys ANY NCIS fanfiction, read this story and look for future NCIS stories by KaylaShay.

Again, you just continue to amaze me with your grasp of the NCIS characters. Seriously, your ability to write them all and all so completely in character is wonderful.

The first part definitely makes me want to hug Gibbs. Seriously, just pull him tight and hug him for being so freaking awesome and taking Tony under his wing. And hell, while I'm at it I guess I can pull Tony close and squish him against my ample bosom. *snicker*

The fact that Tony immediately starts joking with Gibbs and Gibbs returns in his usual fashion makes me so happy. This line:
“What are the other agents going to think when I show up on the first day and they find out I’m already sleeping with the boss?”
is just wonder. Beautiful and it makes me smile and is so full of innuendo!

When Tony gets hurt for the first time, Gibbs' reaction is very in character. He's worried, not ready to show outwardly how worried, but enough that he is snappish and frustrated with the lack of information he's been given. I am not sure I can see Gibbs playing babysitter for Tony - that would not end so well for either of them - but I'm glad that Gibbs cares enough to insist upon it. And then the end of this section, with Gibbs telling Tony to make sure that Gibbs or someone from NCIS is listed as next of kin - perfect!!

I need to go download the episode where Tony gets the plague. Because I keep running across fiction (namely yours) where that episode is used in a major way and I haven't seen it and don't get everything. Grrr. I will do it - I will. Again, great job with Gibbs being afraid and then angry over Tony getting sick and the possibility that he could die. It made me kinda tearfully smile that Gibbs gave Tony a direct order not to die. Great job there Gibbs!!

Awww Gibbs, are you breaking my heart. Again, another episode I need to go download. Tony being set up is just crazy - crazy! And it was so well done that Gibbs knows in his heart, his gut, that Tony is innocent, but all - *all* - the evidence is pointing to Tony. Bad, bad, bad. But I'm glad Gibbs made the effort, went to see Tony while he was being locked up, and told him to hang in - to be patience while Gibbs worked to free him.

And then the last section - the flip side of Tony losing him - oh Kayla! It is just perfect. Utterly perfect. And to have read them both and to see how well they fit together. Even though this piece is through Gibbs' pov you can still see/feel/read the angsty emotions coming off of Tony. Great, great, great job!!

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from FiveOfFive
Hi again, I know I just posted on this, but I thought of something else I wanted to say. As unlikely as that may seem given the length of my last post…

I just re-read part of your “Five Things” series, more specifically “Five People He Lost”, then I went back and re-read this, and I just wanted to say how beautiful they are as companion pieces. At the end of Tony’s POV I was sad and praying that Gibbs could help Tony find himself, and then to go right into Gibbs’s POV, where Gibbs then does what only he can do: save Tony, was perfect. The transition from Tony’s story ending with him lost, standing at the top of the basement stairs with the sound of sanding drifting up, to Gibbs hearing the stairs creak, and the familiar sound of Tony sitting on the third step from the bottom was incredibly well thought out, and beautifully written.

Thanks for indulging me in my rambles; I just don’t think I can ever say enough about your work.

I am at a complete loss for words to express properly how incredibly moved I am by that story. Every scene, every moment I have ever wished to see on NCIS, you've put down on paper. The thoughts left unsaid, the meaning behind every gesture, comes alive as I read this story.

1. The first time Gibbs meets DiNozzo, and his immediate urge to protect him.
2. The first time DiNozzo is injured, and Gibbs tells him he's family, and that Gibbs will always answer his call.
3. When DiNozzo gets the plague, that scene in the episode always makes me cry; and your take on it had just as strong an effect on me. As Gibbs wheels him from the hospital and worries when DiNozzo starts to cough, and again in the basement, Gibbs saying that he couldn't loose him... I'm still in awe of how powerful those moments were.
4. When DiNozzo's being set-up, you were able to translate beautifully what was going through Gibbs's mind as he watches Tony struggle with what's happening, and his anguish at being unable to do anything. And that no matter what, he was going to save him, even if it meant loosing his own freedom.
5. I'm also glad that you put in the scene that was, in my mind, missing from the NCIS cannon; Gibbs and DiNozzo mending their relationship after Jeanne. Tony's confusion about where DiNardo ended and DiNozzo began, and Gibbs being able to find the real Tony lost inside.

Please keep writing about this team, nobody does it better.

I LOVE your reviews!!

(1) I kinda think that Gibbs would always (from the moment they met) want to either protect Tony or keep tabs on him. It's just how I see their relationship.

(2) I think that at some point, Gibbs had to tell Tony what he meant to him early on, in some way, shape or form. I mean why else would Tony take the abuse he does from Gibbs if he didn't know.

(3) I've loved that scene from the moment I saw it. It sealed how I feel about Gibbs and Tony's relationship.

(4) I always thought it was interesting that Gibbs didn't 'say' anything after Tony's little departure from reality. I kinda think he was scared to say anything because he would have lost it if he did.

(5) Something had to pass between them. I liked the look that Gibbs had when Tony told the Director that she didn't need to know what Jeanne said. Gibbs seemed to know why Tony wasn't there the next day, so I'm thinking he knew exactly where Tony was (at his house of course).

I'll keep writing about them, because they make fic writing fun, a challenge and, at times, so easy...

you always do this, beautiful work. I love the Gibbs/Dinozzo interplay and how it has almost slashy but very canon dialogue and context. ^__^
Comments from author:

Several times while I was writing this, I kept going, 'that would make a good slash lead in,' but I decided to keep this general. I wanted to see how far I could take them in their conversations and not actually make it slash.

Part of me wants to do a 'slash version' just to see how it would go, but I don't think I will. I'll have other bunnies for the slash fics.

Kayla, I love your NCIS fic... you've hit the personalities of Gibbs and DiNozzo perfectly!

Thanks! I really like this fandom and find it a fun fandom to write in.

I love the on screen relationship between Gibbs and DiNozzo over the seasons and think it makes for a fun playground to work with. I really like to get into their characters.
