I'm scarcely the greatest expert on Green Lantern, but if these rings are this intelligent and this capable of totally autonomous action, apparently even in total defiance of their wearer’s wishes – then why are they bothering with wearers at all? As presented here, their wearers are useless baggage along for the ride, with the rings being smart enough and capable enough to do anything they want. So I fail to see why new wearers are needed – just send these rings out to do their jobs on their own.
I know it's older, but this is an interesting story! I keep wondering if it chose Luna, or Tara. Which would be better? I almost wish it had chosen Xander for the difficulties that would raise with Cordelia. Hope it gets more inspiration!
Well, I was only vaguely familiar with most of the prospects the rings screened, but I'd have to say that Luna is a pretty good examplar of Hope -- or is that more of a blind faith?
Nice start, although I do hope you update more frequently than once a year ;-)
Lol! Poor Harry. I'm just afraid there will be no getting away from Cordelia Chase now that she has superpowers. Love the fact Cordy got the "HAL" ring. But who is the Blue Lantern woman? Inquiring minds want to know. Looks like you've got another winner of a story here. Now go write more. Please?
Why do I have a sense of impending doom? I get the sneaking suspiscion of who Cordelia's back-up is going to be and the fireworks should be impressive.

Well, the two share one Blue Lantern... so either way it's a witch; the only question is Sunnydale or Ottery St. Catchpole?

Enjoying this, minor Britspeak thing - we don't use "Yard" for garden. Also, and not your fault because everybody does it, I know Brits call the USA "the colonies" sometimes on American TV shows and in fanfic, but nobody ever really does!

Yeah, I'm giving my Britpicker the story off for this one. I'll take that into account for future chapters, though, thanks.

yeah, boy-who-lived, and girl-with-sharpest-tongue-this-side-of-LA and an unknown blue lantern.....am I the only one who gets the feeling that this cannot end well?
that said, I found this chapter to pretty amusing and entertaining.

Yeah, there's a reason Harry wants to stay on the other side of the world. Its name is Cordelia.

Interesting concept, but detailing the explorations of the rings seems a little too verbose for people who aren't die-hard Green Lantern fans. It might be better to make that more concise. (Given the principle of focus following relevance, perhaps the rejected candidates could be excluded altogether... using flashbacks or commentary to reveal their passing notice if they become relevant later)

Actually, as of right now, I'm still not sure who the hell is getting what as far as the rings go. Apart from Tara OR Luna being the Blue Lantern (and the other is still eligible for Green if not picked), everyone there has a chance. The characters shown are a mix of original (Midori), five canon Green Lanterns (Hal came first, John was his backup, Guy became a Lantern after Hal had to leave Earth, Kyle was part of the resurrection of the Corps after it was all but destroyed, and Sora is a bit of a name game with Kyle's alien lover right now: fellow Lantern Soranik Natu), three from Buffy (Xander, Tara, and Cordelia of course), and then the two from HP (Harry himself and Luna). Their order of appearance is carefully plotted as the ring circumnavigates the globe from a spot in New England westward before returning to the ship after crossing the Atlantic. Seemed logical enough to me.
Oh, and Kal and his two mates were just for flavor because I didn't just want to throw in the text about "the Kryptonians" or such since we rarely see more than one in the early days of canon for the DC Universe.
