Review of chapter "Chapter One" from twlight
Review:
Oh this is wonderful! I am sad that this is only a one shot, I hope that you consider writing a sequel to this as the possibilities of Xander as this God and if the spell is undone or if it was supposed to end at midnight and if Xander remembered things from the possession or if he retained any abilities ect.

Wonderful story!
This screams to have a sequel where Xander has to deal with having Janus' memories - maybe as an avatar?

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from Genuka
Review:
He's also the god of portals, doorways, keys and yes chaos. Though Discorda was a goddess of chaos Janus was also a god of chaos. I can't remember the time frame but its actually fairly common in both the Roman and Greek pantheon to have a male and a female god attached to such an important aspect of life. For example Athena was also a goddess of war in addition to being one of wisdom and knowledge, while her brother Ares was the male god of war and I can't remember what else he governed.

This story still had me laughing out loud and its exactly something that Xander would do. *snicker* Great one shot! I'd love to read more!

Hah! Great point, that one has really bothered me for a while (study some Latin at the local U, had to check up on the mythos, ya know?). Good fic, it has a lot of potential for continuation as well...

After all, "Protector of the Innocent", "God of New Beginnings", who would be a better Patron for the boy named "Protector of Man", who goes out every night risking his very mortal life fighting the not-quite-so-mortal things that go bump in the dark, who have, by all accounts, had a really crappy childhood?

And what woud his "New Beginning" be?

I was going to make the same objection
myself, that Janus's portfolio has not
the domain of Chaotic acts, got.
You've made that point, much to my satisfaction.
Comments from author:
All the positive response to this story has been very gratifying. I'd like to say that my sole reason for writing and posting here is for the sheer joy engendered by a noble artistic pursuit.

Aw, who am I kidding? These reviews are like crack.

Thanks for the kind words, and I am pleased you enjoyed the story. :-)

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from misterq
Review:
Nice! I always like the stories where Xander dresses up like Janus. It gives the God an "in" to coming back and walking among mortals. And yeah, Janus is the god of doorways, keys, beginnings and endings - not really chaos, but there is a component of 'change'. Not like Eris/Discordia - Although what the spell would have done if Ethan called upon that goddess would be interesting to see.. Chances are, it would not have done anything remotely like what Ethan wanted it to. That's pretty much what Chaos magic is - you say effectively 'Magic, do what you will', and hope that the result works in your favor. Everything else (rituals, chants, etc..) is just to influence the probability of a good, or at least non-lethal (to you) outcome.
Comments from author:
That is a logical reason for using Janus in the spell. My main issue (of the episode) is with Giles saying he was a chaos god. I always assumed that Ethan thought so, too. His statue is certainly more "chaotic" looking and recognizable than one of Eris or Discordia would be. At any rate, Janus was definitely considered a protector of the innocent in times of war, which is why I envisioned him being upset with being used to harm innocents.

Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

A very fun short, I like the description of Janus at the end. I'd like to see this continued, but I'll understand if your muse only saw it as a one shot.
Comments from author:
Thanks. Maybe someday. I wrote it to take a break and clear my mind as I was working on another story.

Thanks for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Edit: Dang, I'm repeating myself in responses now! I really do appreciate all the reviews. My whole goal with this story was to entertain, and when I attempt to write something humorous, I worry about the timing and about it truly coming out as funny to the reader. It is truly gratifying that you folks are getting a laugh out of it.
