I like your take on this and it give more depth to Cordy, one of my favorite characters from the series.

Heh... Just started reading the next book. You know what's funny? Between honor among enemies and in enemy hands, canon Nimitz and Samantha decided that they needed to take the treecat race extrasolar by starting another colony so the likely worse case scenarios for the Manticoran War would not mean the extinction of their species.

Your Nimitz, pulled from the same time gap, has, by not letting go of his lady, managed to make treecats extra-universal. He should feel very smug :D

I'm glad Cordelia has found a healthy center for her life. She should definitely wind up with a better job than the dress shop when she needs one, although I'm not sure what part-time job the space navy skills will be appropriate for... Fencing/Martial arts instructor? ... Heh. It occurs to me that working at Joyce's art gallery might be an awesome job, would her skills apply?

How about this? Think a treecat who hangs around Joyce for a few days straight while she's starting to have headaches or does something strange earlier like sneaking through her room while she's asleep will be able to detect the tumor, somehow, and try and convince them that she needs help when it could make a difference? ... Might work as an extension of empathic sense but, YMMV.

Is a sequel still under consideration?

A sequel to this fic could have the offspring of the tree cats going to Buffy, Faith and Willow to keep them somewhat more sane than they would be otherwise.
