Review of chapter "XX and Epilogue" from DeepBlueJoy
Review:
I like the part where Holtz gets to kill? our favorite evil preacher.... missed that first time, I think. Was that the German potential he saved?
I have to say, I still really would love to see a sequel for this, even a short one... I really do love this universe. And it's been a long time and many cool shows have come since, so you have all kinds of universes to work with. And of course, time for Connor to grow up a proper English gentleman with Aunties like Faith, Buffy, Willow, Fred etc, and uncles like Wes, Spike and Gunn, etc. and maybe even Groo... he'd be quite the warrior gentleman...
Blue
And the powers could find a way to bring back Angel with Cordy.... anyway... it's been fun visiting your universe again...
Comments from author:
I won't say it'll never happen, but so far inspiration has been singly lacking on this one, and I have a LOT of other stuff to write, both fanfic and RPGs, I really don't want to commit to anything else for the moment.

I know I've read some of your stories but not these last 2. They were both great, although I feel old knowing the Lou Grant story, lol. Off now to check out more of these oldies but goodies.
Comments from author:
Thanks! I think I watched Lou Grant within a year or two of the show first airing, it got shown in the UK pretty fast. One of the better American exports.

The new crossover element was a bit complicated given my complete ignorance of that series, but generally the outsider view you explored was rather interesting.
Admittedly, I thought that Billie’s reaction to learning about Angel’s history was a bit extreme- he might have lost his soul and committed crimes in the past, but WITH his soul he’d never do anything like what Angelus did and he’s taking steps to ensure that he can’t lose it again; given how she talks with Holtz, she acts like he’s a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment and ‘has’ to be killed regardless of the good he does or the friends he has as he is, and what gives her the right to kill someone because of what he MIGHT become in future?-, but at least you clarified that she mainly felt that way due to outside influences (Although I acknowledge that my perspective might be biased given that Angel’s my favourite character).
Sucks that there wasn’t some way they could bring Angel back to life by exploiting Sahjahn’s cross-dimensional nature (Such as doing a spell that would result in Sahjahn being recorporealised in a manner that caused him to essentially take Angel’s place when Billie staked him while Angel’s transferred into the future; if you read DC Comics, kind of like how Atom Smasher and Metron saved Atom Smasher’s mother and killed the villain Extant in the ‘JSA’ title), but I suppose that’s life in that sometimes there just aren’t easy solutions, and you did neatly explore how they set things up to cope in a world where Angel’s dead...
You definitely put a LOT of thought into the legal ramifications and how they were handled, if nothing else; kudos to you on attention to detail.
Comments from author:
Thanks - re Billie, I started out thinking about what Angel has actually done over the years, as seen by someone who is suddenly exposed to him warts and all. The answer, unfortunately, is that he has repeatedly killed the innocent or allowed them to die by inaction, murdered dozens of people in Sunnydale as Angelus, and is clearly a ticking time bomb waiting to kill again. Add to that Sahjan's influence, and a long-lost niece who comes into contact with him fairly often, and it isn't hard to motivate Billie to kill him.
I didn't bring Angel back because doing so robs his death of meaning. The worst thing the show did was bring Buffy back for the start of S6; everyone guessed they would do so, so a lot of dramatic tension was lost. I would have at the very least started the series without her, maybe brought her back midway through season 6 or as a ghost.
re the legal thing, it always bugged me that there was no legal firm opposed to W&H. So I invented one. I think that they do a lot of business with the Watchers, and are not necessarily good people, but better than nothing.
Some of the details about the legal ownership of the Hyperion, Angel Investigations, etc. are canon, Lilah created a huge mass of forged documentation to keep one of her rivals from scoring points with the Senior Partners. Add to that billionaire!Willow and the remaining legal problems can be overcome.

Loved it! Couldn't put it down and all that. I was unfamiliar with the crossover guest stars, but that didn't turn out to be a problem at all, which is always a plus. It's too bad a third story crossing over with the much-missed Veronica Mars didn't work out, because I'm greedy and want more, but I understand that most story ideas just don't come together. Thanks for writing!
Comments from author:
I think you have to be in your fifties to remember Lou Grant, but it was a fun show.
I was thinking about a third part, but they changed the story on Trina Echolls so it didn't really work - instead of giving Willow the moral dilemma of a murderous father, it gave her a relatively innocuous but fairly boring parent. Really didn't work for me.

Really Loved Lou Grant. It was a fine show that NEVER got the acclaim and awards it was due.
Now it sorta looked like Holtz was going to try and fight Caleb which would not be of the good. With him helping more potentials to escape that could have an effect on things. Especially if he was to drop a line to our guys. And this time around Buffy would have a lot more help handy to fight the First.
Understand that your other work must come first but I really hope you do not leave fanfiction behind completely- you are so good at it.
Comments from author:
I should have the current book finished by the end of the month, and launched properly some time in November - after that I want to catch up a bit with fanfic. Glad you liked the story!

I enjoyed writing them, but I can't see writing more - the Veronica Mars idea might have worked as a continuation, but for various reasons it just didn't happen, and I doubt it will now.

Review:
Think I preferred the first story over this one, but that may just because the Buffy source material is easier to make into a comprehensive and tight plot.
Angel's death was extremely powerful, on the other hand. Think I might have enjoyed the latter chapters more if he'd still been around, but I still have to applaud you for the decision, it has excellent shock value.
Thanks for writing!
Comments from author:
It sort of crept up on me as I was writing it, but it made so much sense I went with it and didn't cop out by bringing him back somehow.

This was a wonderful read! I do hope you eventually find the time and your muse inspires you to write a 3rd part.
If not it was still and enjoyable read! Thank you for sharing your creativity! :)
Comments from author:
Thanks - I hope to at some point, but I've made two starts on it and both have been BAD so I'm leaving it to see if I get any better ideas.
