If you think a Shino!Xander would be too much like Oz, then make a Shino!Oz. Dress Oz up as Shino for Halloween. No his personality would not change, but he would get some cool powers.

I like this idea, i could see xander picking up the genius of hard work mantle. a slight change in personality, and maybe fixating on faith when she gets there.

primarily because he is a main character, while i will write stories focused on the mains i prefer to be surprising by pulling in a secondary that fits Xanders character more.

It is possible to write Lee, I would recommend reading other fics with him in them. It would be nice to see this continued. Xander could inherit Lee's work ethic and need to improve himself and then you could have someone else go as Shino and Kiba, Oz for either for various reasons and then maybe Jonothan for the other?
