Very, very nice! First off, yay for the Ianto love. He needs more celebration. I love the team planning the surprise for his birthday. Ianto's inner dialogue is very well done. Love the Ianto/Jack loving. Fabulous to have Jack celebrating Ianto's life and Ianto convincing Jack to celebrate the fact he's still living as well. Beautiful!

Whew! It's not often I write a noncrossover piece, especially with characters I've never written before. (And did you notice I was nice to Gwen, gave her a line and everything) And I just adore the Jack/Ianto relationship...

Lovely. Sweet, but not syrupy, and angsty without knocking a body out with it. I particularly like the living/being alive contrast--one I have to remind myself of at times, although I usually phrase it slightly differently.

When Becca requested it she wanted something sappy/fluffy, and as I was writing I was giving myself a toothache, which is why I slipped a hint of angst in there to offset it a bit.

I occasionally have to remind myself about the living and being alive thing at times as well.

Review:
Fluffy in some moments and bittersweet in others. I like the fact that Ianto is teaching/inspiring Jack to do something. Usually the deathless leader of their small band of not so merry men takes charge and is the one that teaches the youngsters. This was a nice departure from the usual.
