Whoa. Cool.
Something to be careful about though... One of Piers Anthony's Incarnation books had a baby born in a similar fashion as a gift from either Nature or Time, the (dead) father carried markers for a terrible genetic disease that he hadn't known about and that Nature had forgotten to screen for before she worked her magic. Horrible to not only lose a lover, but to, years later, lose a child thanks to a *gift*
