Review of chapter "Catching Up With Life" from (Past Donor)FireDragon
Review:
Ok so the time thing is weird. but I am assuming there will be an explanation eventually. If she is going to be a normal girl does that mean she has a chance of becoming a mutant? So many possibilities. Will there be a romantic interest for her? curious about where you are taking this.

Well, at least she has a nice bank acct, and has a plan. And the necklace with which to get one free life-save. Though with a 'catch'? Making her a mutant or something? I like that she gets a chance to rest, be normal (whatever that is) and such, but I'm guessing that fate still has something in store for her. Especially with her last name, and being in the Marvel-verse...

Ah. Still quite tell if she's in more than one time frame or if you're trying to make a joke about Marvel's retroactive continuity.
Comments from author:
That's it. Going off of Robert Wicks' Unofficial Chronology Of The Marvel Universe, reocities dot com/jjnevins/wicks11 dot html, which I'll add a link to in the disclaimer when she starts classes, this should be about "Circa 20 years before FF#1" and the formation of the Fantastic Four. She's sort of in a nebulous backstory period occurring between that event and World War II. Considering the Four were first written in 1961, followed by Spiderman in 1962... Yeah.

Her homeworld has Marvel comics so, despite lack of familiarity with the material, she'll eventually catch on and start making comments. I'm assuming a native who took Dr. Doom's time machine back from Marvel's present to a 'fixed' date would perceive the reality as solid. Buffy was either inserted into a 'relative' time, or that's just how things are and she's lacking filters.

The Ultimate Fantastic Four are definitely aware that, because of one possible shape for the multiverse, in this case a multiversal stack, their reality's timeline is more compressed than others, events having happened closer together, people having served in different wars. They know they're not the most compressed either... Just putting my own spin on how things might look from the inside :)

It seems like she's unstuck in time maybe in 3 or four times at once. Very interesting.

Interesting. I would love to see where you are going with this. Keep up the good work.

Thank you :)

I've finally sat down and written about four hundred words of the ending. It's a long road between here and there, with plenty of story points that may or not be used, but the new chapter's up and the next chapter (or the one after) already has a hundred words of dialogue and a setting.

Ooh, I love how you're dealing with the Marvel "timeline". As I told becuzitswrong for his Marvel fic "Buffy's Hammer", it really is quite fuzzy, and which year any given storyline is set in is just blowin' in the wind... :)

BTW, "The Gift" was in May 2001, firmly in the 21st century. :)

Man, I looked up Joyce's lifespan before I posted the chapter to check her birthdate, but the death date didn't click until a half-hour later in the middle of Latin class... Oh well.

Thanks :D

An intersting mystery and cool place for Buffy to be the young woman she is.. and see how that could effect reality. Retroactive continuity/sliding timescale problems of comics anyone?

Review:
ah, she's in a comic book universe where it's always "now" and after 250 issues, Peter Parker is only 1 year older. or something weird like that?
So.... does she still have slayer strength etc and is only 'living as' a normal girl, or is she actually a normal girl?
Comments from author:
Exactly, and to the people inside the comic, it's normal, or at least lampshaded. DC offsets some of the effect by resetting continuity/reality every dozen years, but Marvel's allegedly a single timeline...

I'm saying she's a physically normal girl with skills and muscle memory better suited to a Slayer, so she'll have to retrain to account for the lack of strength and coordination... So if she was a black-belt martial artist before, she's a yellow/orange-belt now, or will be once she adapts to her new state... I may adjust that later, but that's the general idea :)
