there are several simple backup procedures for typed text:

a) print it on paper.
every evening, before you shut down your computer print any new chapters.

b) send it as an email to a secondary email account.
get a secondary email account, where you send all you newly written, or even changed chapters to.
send them every evening, without formatting, just plain text.

Even if they are in only the email queue, they will be send the next time you connect to the internet.

Do not store the password for the secondary account on your computer. Put it in an envelope between your papers.
Access that account every few month to clean up old stuff.

c) put a copy of your chapters on a floppy disk or an USB stick.
get 10 floppies or USB Sticks to save your chapters on. Either use different colors, or number them. Use them round robin.
Every evening copy the folder with you new stories over.

d) same as c), but burn a CD. Most people do not want this hassle.

nobody warned Faith about the First in advance... Angel didn't know and the scoobies weren't thinking about her at all, she'd been in prison for years by then. Actually going after Faith was a strange move on the First's part--it would trigger the calling of a new not-in-prison Slayer; as it was, she was out of the game. But maybe it didn't want to risk an experienced slayer moving to Sunnydale?
Wow, First as Ginny at the Weasley's. That's going to hurt a bit. Unless maybe the Patronus spell can dispell it?

I always thought it was weird that Faith got attacked...but then maybe not.

The First could have known she would escape if things got bad enough. And the whole thing with Angelus and Janice? Two different shows and two different apocalypses but come on of course it knew! Besides if a potential was called...who would have made things harder for Buffy? Faith or a newbie with delusions of grandeur? Even if the new slayer wasn't in Sunnydale... what's better? An inexperienced, probably alone, slayer or an experienced one on the same level of power as Buffy, who could potentially put a kink(maybe even THAT kind of kink...it's Faith after all) in its plan ? Sure she was in prison but ...what if?

As for First!Ginny? Well if Ginny is not at school to try to steal the sword, Ron needs a push to leave the other two, no? I'd like to keep the hunt as intact as possible so if I have to give them new reasons to do the same things they did in the book, then that's what I'll do. :)
And the rest of the Weasleys are fair game as long as I don't interfere with the hunt.

For the love of all that is holy dont do kennedy/willow. I hate that bitch. I rather see faith/willow b4 that. I vote buffy/angel. And lets not ship ginny with harry. It would b kinda funny and sad to c her go with one the girls or willow. Facing danger together can form deep bonds.

Buffy/Spike? No! The whole point of Spike's arc was when he finally did something good (wore the amulet) and he did it for himself, NOT to impress the woman he happened to be in love with at the time-for the first time in his life, he wasn't a "Fool For Love"--remember his little speech to B after she got tossed out. He'd given up on wanting a romantic relationship with her. At least that's my interpretation.
I could see Buffy/Faith, though I think maybe it's too late for that, too much pain /hurt between them. Though I don't like Faith/Robin. Heh. I like Harry/Ginny (sue me).
Even now the scoobies are what, 22? No need to make final choices, they're still very young. I could see Buffy/Xander in about 5-10 years... and ...I like Kennedy (I'm weird). Willow/Kennedy can work, although not in the present storyline, probably. (I liked Willow/Fred in that brief scene in "Angel")...
Clearly you need to bring Tara back. Heh.

I agree about Spike. It was the wearing of the amulet that finally made him a champion. Because lets be honest, fighting 4 good cuz u can only hurt bad things(and he goes all evil vamp on B when they realize he could hurt her...even before the rape attempt. And while 1 could argue that B let him &used him 4 sex, she wasn't all there at the time & he knew it & went ahead with it anyway, so much 4 loving her.) and then getting a soul just to get the girl? not very champion-esque (champion-like? champion-ish?) another reason I don't like the season 9 comic. (plus Angel&Faith rocks! Buffy S9 just doesn't compare.)

Buffy/Faith if I go that route wouldn't be a full on relationship...they are both too messed up 4 that, but maybe that could be something they can help each other with, healing and being there 4 each other even if both of them are still baking.

Willow/Fred would be cute, really really cute. Tara is not completely out of the question, maybe using the plot josh considered to use 4 that but discarded in the end...who knows? :)

That was interesting. And as much as I like Angel, I'd prefer Faith/Buffy... mostly because they're two sides of the some coin. I'd say go that way, but that's just me. I's love Angel but I love Faith more.

I am surprised I missed this update until now but I am glad I decided to re-read it! I like where you are going with this story.

as much as I am enjoying this, I cannot give this a 10, because it has not been updated in over a year!!!!! I would like to see what happens when and if the Weasley's find Ginny - or that she finds them after the battle with the First. If the First is now messing with Harry and Weasleys' heads, does that mean that it will not be quite so focussed on the Hellmouth? Will Hermione fins out about the First perhaps by research? Anyway, please update soonest!

WOOT! update! So happy!

I like the potential of the story. Seems to be leading up to something quite good.

But, here we are at ch7 and the Order of the Phoenix and the Weasleys are STILL "looking" for Ginny (mostly seeming to assume she's been kidnapped), while Dumbledore (the titular head of the Order) keeps them all 100% in the dark.

Even if he can't tell them where Ginny is or the circumstances for tactical/strategic reasons...he could at least tell the Weasleys that Ginny is safER wherever she is, or is on a mission, or SOMETHING. At least that it was something Ginny AGREED to do.

What tactical/strategic/safety-of-Ginny value is achieved by letting the Weasleys think Ginny may have been captured by Vmort's forces and is being tortured? None that I can reason.

Vmort KNOWS that isn't the case so there is zero value to Vmort in Ddore's disclosing that it isn't the case to the others. By doing so it would alleviate a significant portion of the pain being felt by the Weasleys. It would also free up Order resources that are being spent running-down clues and sources re: possible kidnapping. It's a useless waste of manpower and time and could put many other lives in jeopardy while Order resources are being misdirected.

As for the Order, Ddore could even put in some misdirection (while getting them off the kidnapping tasking) in case Vmort has a spy...and that could be very helpful in further reducing any actual and perceived danger to Ginny.

Even though we all know Dumbledore is a ruthless plotting bastard...as another reader noted it is just needlessly cruel to the Weasleys, esp the mother to keep them so ignorant when there is nothing to be gained by doing so...and in fact a number of reasons to at least rule out kidnapping/torture.

And, what's to prevent the very powerful Ddore from putting the Wizarding Geas (or whatever it's called in HPotter canon) on Molly (with her permission of course) so that she can't tell anyone else even if Ddore told her the complete and utter truth?

You are right they are still looking for her... There's not much I can say to defend Dumbles... other than the fact that he thought there was more time.(We all know how that usually works for Dumbledore...Remember what happened to Sirius?) Sure, the man was a very powerful and intelligent Wizard, but he certainly wasn't counting on what happened in only a matter of days. You have to keep in mind that in fact it's only been a few days since Ginny left. You'll probably see this in the next few chapters, but he wanted Ginny first to get comfortable or at least used to be in a whole different country, and second he wanted her trained before any information reached the Order, the Weasleys or Harry as any leaked info would put her in more danger. Obviously, things didn't go as planned. The first knew, and plotted to ruin things even BEFORE Ginny arrived to the Hellmouth.

The Order was going to be informed (not in detail, of course, just that she left on Dumble's orders for ah...safety reasons) next chapter, actually, but at this point they think her dead. Not sure yet if they are going to think she died while away or if someone is going to be smart enough to check the clock. The matter of when they are going to find out she's alive is suposed to be left to the readers to choose. There will be a poll about that on FF. net if you want to vote.
