By the goddess I love this one. This is a reflection of somthing thousands of us have been saying for years. Unfortunatly beyond it making for too swiftly resolved a story, Lucas shot the idea down several times saying wielding the force is like trying to work on a circuit board wearing boxing gloves. Doesn't make a lot of sence though with the darkside evolved force-choke skill from KotOR. It supposidly squeezes bloodvelssels in the brain like you had the medic here do. Worked well on the cannon fodder but not to well on jedi.

Sorry for slow reply, time got sucked away by college.
And yeah, I've decided I like young George Lucas, not old George Lucas.
As for the force choke, he has Darth Vadar using it in the movies, even from acrossed a spaceship. Besides, if you live as long as yoda or some of the other jedi are supposed to, i'd be surprised if you couldn't work on a circuit with boxing gloves.

Makes sense. Heh, the omake is very straightforward and excels in its simplicity :D
I've read a lot of fics where there's stuff going on in Vader's implants that he has to be shocked into taking a look at, so Anakin missing something like that is very plausible. The only thing that would really save him from it is there having been an age limit on the surgery :)

thanks for the review. I had forgotten about this short story. It was fun to go backa nd have a look.

Yeah, we see a lot of that in many kinds of fiction. Unfortunately. At least it makes for good fanfics...
Comments from author:
Yup. I personally hold that the original three movies will always be the true star wars, the prequels and the stupid books(Not all are stupid but the ones with the vong really, really annoyed me) don't really factor in, which is why I decided to poke fun at them.

Interesting point, I've said it before the Jedi were always stupid in canon. Strangely the future become crowded, a long series of events gets one man to power, kills off others etc. Nice prophecy about balance to the force.. when they already have thousands of Jedi and 2 Sith. It would not take a genius figure out which way the balance most likely to go, especially if you add in how prone to anger and emotions Anakin was.
My reasoning for the Jedi's stupidity was always they relied on the force so much they were blind to common sense. Palpatine just 'looked evil', in the very least greedy. NO man who wants be supreme chanceler that bad in times of war could be trusted with the power, add in the convent clones, blocked future sight etc you have some obvious problems. In a way the Jedi were so into using the force to solve their problems they were a lot like Wizards in Harry Potter where they used Magic for everything and forgot common sense.
I also found it odd that one Sith master could cloud the entire force from thousands of Jedi centuries if not more older then him. What ever did the Jedi do when the Sith numbered in the thousands, millions etc in the old Republic? Either the Jedi's abilities in the force have declined massively or they used to know how read people's body language or something to compensate.
Comments from author:
The story came to me after playing The Force Unleashed and reading Eragon, how they have magic users destroy enemy armies with simple, low cost spells.
I'll be honest with you, i didn't particulalrily like Episodes 1,2,and 3. To me Star Wars will always be 4,5,and 6.
i also agree with you on many of the same points, never understood how thousands of Jedi and two sith were balanced.
Nice to see a story in which the Jedi have half a brain(no more than that as with more than half a brain they'd have stopped things before they got to that point) although I'm not sure I liked how vicious and evil they were in your story .(even excluding the omake)
The Unicorn
Edit: In the movies they might be "the police force for an entire galaxy, the glue that holds the Republic together" but in your story it seems clear they're a version of the Praetorian guards who selected the emperor, except the Jedi also control the rulers, not merely pick who'll rule.

Just an old piece of work I did. I got tired of seeing the Jedi doing impossible things with their power and then an entire temple of them falling to a single fallen knight and an army of living, brainwashable, weak minded clones. Combine that with Knights of the Old Republic and a little dash of Eragon magic battle tactics and you get my piece. Also I don't think its vicious and evil, more practical, they are the police force for an entire galaxy, the glue that holds the Republic together, so sacrifices have to be made.
Thanks for the review.

LOL! Brilliant. Subtlety is such a wonderful thing.
EDIT: Cause it'd make for a boring movie. *snicker* Someone has to act stupid to stretch things out!
Comments from author:
Thank you. Coming from you that is as if God himself said I did a good job. I love all your work. And subtlety was the point. After all, in the firt movie we see Jedi as diplomats, which takes subtlety, intelligence, and wisdom. So why don't they apply that everywhere?

It needs another chapter... what happens to Luke, and Leai (shoot can't spell her name) well you get the idea. What happens to them with proper Jedi training???
Comments from author:
I dont really plan to continue this, though I might add another quick chapter, but not with that idea. If you wish to do that and use my idea fell free, just give me some credit. And I dont really see anything but the Vong getting their asses whooped by clone armies and a united Republic led by Jedi later. But not as badly whooped if the Empire stayed in control.

You'd make one hellava Jedi ... I think you'd be "Gray" .... neither good .. nor evil .. but gray
Comments from author:
Thanks. I always sided with the Sith idea that the force was a tool. It seems in the books, movies, and games that the Jedi win, but not before the Sith succeed at causing major damage and destruction which more then makes up for whatever peace the Jedi acheive.

Nice! You know, if it wasn't for the fact that this would completely stop the entire movie series, it would have been cool! :P I like it though, I'll keep that in mind :)
Comments from author:
Well, if you wish to use it feel free. And I think a good author (not me, im more into one shots then long stories, though i am trying) could work with it and keep everyhting going like in the movies. Have the Sith Lord have a counter plot to the counter plot to which the Jedi respond with another plot and so forth. May the best plot win!

saw it in an X-man short story collection in books-a-million retail store many years ago. Magneto could control the metal in the blood streams.
Comments from author:
I have a comic book where Magneto controls a group of soldiers through the natural metals we have in our bodies, but I the idea actually came from the Eragon magic and the Force Unleashed.
