A delightful add-on to the original story, though I will admit to being disappointed that Pratful Percy didn't receive appropriate recompense for his part in enabling the fiasco of Hermione's expulsion. There really needs to be a sequel wherein Lord and Lady Potter rub their successes (scholastic and otherwise) in the faces of the Ministry and the sheeple of the British wizarding world. The thought occurs to me, too, that if Harry removes those he cares about from Britain, Tommy-boy might find conquering wizarding Britain to be much less satisfying than he expected and that it would also be quite the stimulus to other wizarding nations to prepare against him - and he might never know when one of them could make harry & co. an excellent offer.

Glad you enjoyed the story. ;-) I rather doubt that I'll be following this up, but having said that, i will note that my muse is extremely fickle and I could end up penning a 40,000 word sequel tomorrow if she so desires. ;-)
As far as Percy is concerned, I think that the best fate that could happen to him is that he ends up as an inconsequential, unnoticeable and unnoticed lackey for whichever idiot ends up running that joke that is so laughingly called the Ministry of Magic, especially when he realizes that his family has moved on and become a significant force in the world as a result of their continual support of Harry.
And Tom is going to eventually trigger his own demise, primarily because he can't simply accept that he isn't the master of everything he sees and will, sooner or later, end up attacking Harry and getting his butt stomped into the ground, along with whatever pitiful remnant of his brain-dead minions survive his tantrums and idiotic fits of pique.
Thanks for reviewing and commenting.

Perfect! I often wondered why Harry *didn't * just pick up and leave!

Thanks.
JKR has a very nasty and sadistic streak to her to judge by her writing.
I really can't see anyone with Harry's abilities and background hanging around for forever to be abused by the apparently endless numbers of arrogant, incompetent and stupid mouth-breathers populating the Wizarding World, so I had to write this.

It is a fact that every tyrant though out history has created their own destruction. and make no mistake Fudge is a tyrant. the man doesn't care anything for doing his job he spends all his time trying to keep his job (and all the power and perks that come with it). love the AU in this one shot story (though I'd love to see a followup) keep up the writing. Remember what Thomas Paine said ( it was quoited in the movie V for vengeance) " People shouldn't be afraid of their government, government should be afraid of their people" ( common sense, by Thomas Paine)

Glad to learn that you enjoyed the story and thanks for reviewing.
As far as your comment about governments fearing their people, I agree, and I think that that is the primary reason so many politicians are so wiling to disregard the Second Amendment and remove people's right to keep and bear arms: it's so much easier to make the populace do what you want if they don't have an easily available and easy to use way to remove unpopular leaders from office once they overstay their welcome. ;-)
Always remember: There's no justice; there's just us.

Nice. He did promise to come back if the current Ministry left power. let's see... 1) Coup by angry mob, wanting to spur economic progress. 2) Tearful resignation of the Ministry. 3) Coup by Death Eaters. 4) The Queen Mother stepping into Wizardry politics and rotating the cabinet / dissolving the Ministry herself.
I like the idea of Harry's group being spread throughout the world, kept in touch with each other through high amounts of economic backing.
Comments from author:
While it's true that any of the above could trigger Harry and his friends' return, I believe it much more likely to happen as a result of Voldemort's sending Death Eaters out searching for them in order to remove any chance of Harry's coming after him as vengeance for his parents' deaths. After all, most Bad Guys (tm) seem to feel an overwhelming need to do something that will precipitate their own demise.

-snicker, snicker- LOL! Oi! You've got a wonderfully twisted sense of humor, I love it! Happy writing!!!!!

Thanks. And my wife and family have commented on my sense of humor for a long time now, although the words they use aren't usually as nice as yours. ;-)

Awesome! I always love the fics where Harry tells the WW they're on their own, he quits. Doing it through an interview with Rita Skeeter after taking a magical vow was just perfect.
Comments from author:
Yeah, I thought that since the Ministry usually used Rita and the Prophet to diss Harry, it was only fair to have him do the same.

Very good idea of what would happen if Harry just decided to up and take off. I enjoyed it very much! I'd love to see further consequences for England though and Fudge.

I appreciate your reviewing. Any followups depend on what my muse wants to do.
