What have you done to me? Here I am grinning madly and feeling little fluttery butterflies over Riley asking Willow to be his girl. I have been ruined - utterly ruined. Next thing you know I will 'shipping these two like the rest of the cast doesn't exist. Great series - I have enjoyed it from start to finish. Riley always struck me as a little to gentleman-ly for Buffy. It has been interesting to see his character played off someone like Willow. He really was a nice guy for all that many Buffy fans despised him. Nice ending. Now I will spend the rest of the day trying not to daydream about these two being all cute together. ~Vesica

Review of chapter "Awkward Invitation" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
Whee! They are actually going on a date!! I don’t know whether to be thrilled or jealous. This is wonderful and could only work as a fic. It is hysterical to ‘hear’ what is going on in their heads. Bless the omniscient narrator and his/her/its keen powers of observation!! ~Vesica

Review of chapter "Hopes Without Words" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
*stomps feet in annoyance* Why couldn’t we have YOUR Riley in Season 4?? Even if he still had to be paired with Buffy – we would still have nice, 'I do have a brain and yet I am a down home, sweet, corn-fed farm boy' Riley. I like him. You are so good at writing the dialogue and non-verbal signals seamlessly. This really showcases your art. Very skillful interplay between these two – little steps toward and away, when we all know this dance is heading straight for Lambada territory. But the journey is 3/4ths of the fun. *breathless in antici- - - - pation* ~Vesica

Review of chapter "Awkward Words" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
Oooh, ooh. Little sadist Ves who lives in my head was laughing at Riley’s typical “Oh god – tears. Run for cover. Deploy countermeasures. Anything but tears”. I really like this. I really like the idea of them. And I blame you entirely for that *attempts a stern glare*. Oh – and you have pluralization issues at the end. Coffee is singular – them is plural. At first I thought you meant W and R were cold. When I got to foamy I figured I’d gotten my subjects in a twist or this fic was going from calm to kinky in a heartbeat. ~Ves

Review of chapter "Words of Comfort" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
I read this and I see Willow standing there – the confusion, thinking, realizing, denying, thinking, more confusion and finally resolve on her face – as she ponders this whole Riley situation. I was a little confused by Riley speaking. In that, I must have missed when he walked up. And I expected Willow to jump a little at being approached by the guy she was just thinking about. She seemed a little skittish at this point. ~Ves

Review of chapter "Fumbled Words" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
“He felt like a heel all of a sudden” Okay, I have made no secret of the fact I am not Mr. Finn’s biggest fan but this line. What 2% of the male population is even capable of feeling like that. *applause* Nice, very nice. “Then, the most wonderful, baffling thing happened” – How many guys have thought this – for a variety of reasons, all involving women. *grin* Great choice for this to be Riley POV. New look at Willow during this time. And, though it hurts to say this, I am rather enjoying Riley. *shudders at her own thoughts* Onward - Bravely! ~Ves

Review of chapter "Vanishing Words" from (Past Donor)Vesica
Review:
Awww. Everyone loves Willow. And even more surprisingly – I didn’t find myself ready to smack Riley once. Okay there was once but that was only my general annoyance at men attracted to the woundedness in women. Come on guys – do we have to be visibly broken to be a non-threat to you all? Hello? Oh well. You’ve done it again – I am hooked and I don’t even normally like one of your characters. ~Ves

Review:
Interesting take on the beginning to S4. Works nicely with both Willow and Riley's canon personalities, weaving a believable tale of friendship and concern, with possibly something more later. Short chapters, but each one is well rendered and excellently emoted, if that's a real word. Nicely done.
