I don't recognize the character, but an excellent story!
To attempt to answer the question: A man's nature, simply put, is what it is. A man lives and grows and becomes a new person with every breath he takes but that doesn't change the nature at the core of his being. His nature might be restrained or curbed or channeled or even redirected to new purpose, but one's nature essentially remains unchanging. To seek an answer to such a question is foolishness.
Or course, I'd probably be eaten for my impertinence. :-)

What can change the nature of a Man? There are too numerous things that can change a man. But I the Genius has found the ultimate answer. What have love, hate, remorse, death and even destiny in common? Emotions! That's the answer. A good second answer is Living. But you need Emotions to live. So Emotions is at the core of everything that can change a Man.
The Answer is EMOTIONS.
I think Ravel is being highly unfair. *pout*

Ravel doesn't agree with your answer. Ravel eats you. Sorry. Have as nice a day as you can have while being eaten. ;-)

I liked the story, and it's always nice to see a planescape crossover
however ravel had children (unless this takes place a lot of time before the game) it's part of the main quest
yes the main quest requires you to find "Ravel's blood" her daughter (Kessai-Serris - you find her in the fallen's brothel) and her halff sister mentions that Ravel had other children before Serris
never mind, I'm nitpicking.
great story
Comments from author:
Ravel had children? I'm afraid I don't remember that part. (Unless you mean the various old women that TNO meets, like the midwife; but I assumed they were 'versions' of Ravel rather than her children).
Glad you enjoyed it!

Not having played Planescape: Torment this seemed a bit weak. It could do with a little more background info.
Comments from author:
Well, okay. Other than "Ravel is a scary, old, lonely, powerful demon/witch/goddess-type figure, who's trapped in a maze, and is pining for her long-lost lover", what background information would you need? My aim was to convey her character and situation through the description without laying a big infodump on my readers about who she is and how she got there. I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Yes, Ravel does indeed have at least one child. One of the women inside the Brothel for the Slaking of Intellectual Lusts, the grey-skinned girl with red eyes whose name I can't remember at the moment, is the daughter of Ravel and an unnamed cambion.
Moving on! Nice story, it captured Ravel quite well.
Comments from author:
Ah, right. I remember that now. Oh well.
I'll assume that Ravel's maternal feelings were awakened in this story (as we saw at the end), and so next time she captured a 'guest' she forced him to impregnate her, resulting in that child. Hey, it doesn't contradict anything. :-)
Thanks!
