Review of chapter "Chapter Two - Part Nineteen" from Gilescandy
Review:
I made an account here just so I could tell you that this is my favorite fanfic (perhaps even story) of all time. I read everything I can find that has Giles and Willow together, and when I found this years ago on Hairy Eyeball I fell in love. The world you've created here is so rich and beautiful. And, knowing nothing about D&D, I get to explore this whole new world with them. Whenever I'm sick or sad, this story is the blanket I curl up in to help me feel better.

I know it's been a long time, but, as a fellow writer who has her share of epics that need attention, I know that it doesn't matter how long, a story like this never completely lets you go. I just wanted to let you know that it's still being read and beloved. And, when the muses do return, you have readers who still eagerly await being with Giles as he learns what it means to be a dragon, and with Willow as she finds her way with new magics.

Thank you for the awesome adventure you've already taken me on.
Comments from author:
Thank you - it's always nice to know that people are reading my stuff and enjoying it. I haven't forgotten this tale, but a few things got in the way of taking it forward, and it had to be put aside for a while. I will try and pick it up again at some point - I have a great fondness for this particular setting, and there is still so much of it left to explore. :-)

This is a fantastic story - I love the setting, and Giles and Willow's reactions are very true to the characters, and wonderful to read. I hope you write more, as this deserves to be continued.

Just finished re-reading Chapters 1 & 2, and enjoying them as much as I did the first time around. Your characterisation and imagery is brilliant, and I feel like I'm watching a movie - so being left hanging at the end and realising there wasn't any more was a rude shock! :)

I'm hoping that life has settled down and you have plans for Chapter 3, since there's been a few other pieces of writing posted this year? (Begging face and pleading, soulful eyes...)

Great writing, and I'm looking forward to more of it, when life and the Muses permit!
Comments from author:
I'm pleased it still reads well on a second pass ... :-)

I have (finally) managed to dice out the major combat sequence for Chapter 3, but am wrestling a little with how to lead up to it - that and my thesis, which has reached 54,000 words and still has three chapters to go!

But I have not forgotten, and certainly not abandoned this. I will get back to it, I promise!

I normally don't write reviews but this is a great story, so much that I think needs some more.
I hear you are writing a thesis and good luck with that. The way you bring Giles back to life is a great thing the added advantage of being a Dragon is a great plus.
Can't wait to hear him fly.
Willow is all the fun things I like about her, none of the "evil" stuff she played with.
A grand new beginning for her.
Can't wait for an update.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the kind comments.

I tend to think that Willow, like Giles, has learned a salutary lesson or two about the misuse of magic, and won't be in a hurry to make the same mistakes again. But despite all the changes she's gone through (in canon, and in getting to Summerset) she's still Willow - bright, curious, eager to make friends, anxious to please, and a little inclined to act before she's thought all the consequences through. :-)

I too am waiting for Giles to make good use of his wings - I think, intellectually, he knows he should be able to fly, but he's not there emotionally yet. He's going to have to stop thinking like a man and let Dragon instincts take over ...

The thesis is taking centre stage at the moment, so my readers will have to be patient with me - but I will get back to this as soon as I can!

Review of chapter "Chapter Two - Part Nineteen" from MarcusSLazarus
Review:
Nice job, to say the least.

The series continues to intrigue me, your characterisation continues to be highly effective, and the world you have presented for us here proves to be highly captivating the more we are exposed to its intricacies.

Still curious about WHAT Giles and Willow are going to be going up against in this world- the idea of them as symbols is good, don’t get me wrong, but surely symbols need something to be used AGAINST to be truly effective?-, but that aside things are going well.

If nothing else, Giles’s exploration of his abilities and history as a dragon continues to prove highly engaging; I look forward to seeing how things turn out when he’s called on to take action for the first time against a threat that merits his attention (Rather than the acid-spraying slug that can’t actually do serious damage to him OR Willow in their current states).

Keep up the great work!

Hey, we havn't lost you to the new job have we?

I'm sure we'd all love to see more if you get the time.
Comments from author:
The new job *is* taking up my time - as is the thesis, which needs me to write over 60,000 words in the next five months - but I haven't abandoned this, and I will get round to writing more. I promise!
