Review of chapter "Chapter One" from RevDorothyL
Review:
Intriguing! Since Q can go anywhere in time as well as space (omnipotence has its advantages), his gratitude or admiration for the actions of these teenaged human girls in the early 21st century wouldn't necessarily have to have been PRIOR to his 'Encounter at Farpoint' introduction to Picard and the others in the 24th century, but it would be interesting if somehow this observation assignment HAD influenced his sneaking sort-of-affection for (or at least his annoying, high-handed, and obnoxious INTEREST in) humanity and its virtues and vices.

[I think you misunderstood my comment: I was speculating on what might've been the unanticipated RESULTS or SIDE-EFFECT -- for Q himself and his personal attitudes towards humans in all times and dimensions -- of this visit, rather than thinking that the Q continuum had had any such thing in mind as their REASON for sending him to observe the battle with the First. You made their reason perfectly clear: they were scared of the First and anxious about what might happen if the First won and was able to become corporeal, etc., in that dimension, and thereafter able to wreak destruction throughout all the dimensions there are.

You also made it quite clear that ST and BtVS were in different dimensions, I thought.

I'm sorry if my comments on this particular story (which were merely speculating on some of the possible implications for the character of Q and the many different facets of his personality when we met him in various episodes of ST:TNG, DS9, and Voyager) were unclear or misleadingly phrased.]
Comments from author:
The Q have no influence over anything in that dimension. In face, they hate going to that dimension. Q was sent for other reasons.
