Review of chapter "Chapter Six" from leonamasha
Really enjoyed reading this story. The way you showed Cordelia and Lorne's knowledge while still keeping me wondering was great. To finally see that they'll be in a new permanent verse soon is exciting. Definitely looking forward to more. Thanks for writing this.

This was an interesting story up until you contradicted yourself in chapter 4 and started including the sexual part of the story. The second that Angel went all the way with Xander you would have caused the exact thing that you had previously said would be a very bad thing to happen. Which is the release of Angelus, because during the height of sex you forget everything except the sex which would have broken the curse.
Other than that you had a pretty good story going.

EDIT: I don't know I never really watched all of Angel's series except the first season. But I remember on the first season there was an episode where Angel us broke free temporarily because someone drugged him. So I don't know, it might be something to look into.

EDIT EDIT: After doing a little research they seem to have really confused the thing that would break the curse. In Season two of Buffy they said if he had a moment of happiness it would be too much. But in season 4 of Angel they seem to say that he can have as much happiness as he wants it just can't be with Buffy. So I withdraw my complaint about the story, if the series can't keep the loophole straight why should we.
Comments from author:
Okay, I admit this might be a mileage varies thing, but my reading of canon is that it's only Buffy who causes (or can cause) the loss of Angel's soul. In Angel's own series when the gang tried to remove his soul by having Angel and Cordy have sex it isn't until Angel imagines Buffy that his soul is lost. And then later Angel is having sex with Nina (the werewolf) without unleashing Angelus, so my reading was always that Angel could have sex he just couldn't have sex with Buffy.

well rats. I was really hoping Lorne would make it through. Not that I can decide who should have died since there's that pesky vampire-human link. (bad enough we lost giles). Clem maybe. Sigh. That's the problem with these apocalyptic stories, the death toll inevitably includes your favorites. having just re-read the whole thing, I have to stay this flows well from the earlier chapters. I'm a little iffy on the True Blood cross-over simply because I know nothing about it except what I've read in articles on the show. ::shrug:: oh well.

Welcome back.
Comments from author:
Thanks, and to be honest in honor of the actor who played him I did consider keeping him around, but the problem I have is that there's still a few more characters then I believe I can reasonably work a story in for, which means if I kept them around they wouldn't have much to do anyway, so...

The good news, I suppose, unless I change my mind (or can't, as I said, reasonably work screen time in for the character) is that there will likely be only one more character death, and the goodish news there is that it probably won't happen right away, unless (of course) I can't manage to stop Xander from starting a war with the True Blood characters (or at least one of the True Blood characters). Seriously, I knew Xander was gonna screw up a little, but I didn't realize one of the True Blood characters would be so "must kill Xander" about it, though I guess knowing the character it shouldn't be that much of a surprise (the True Blood character not Xander).

I was very glad to see this updated. I'll have to go back and reread the whole fic to get back up to speed, but on the first readthrough it seems as good as always.

Too bad about Lorne though. :( Should we start a death pool for the next culling? :)
Comments from author:
*grins* Maybe there's no need for a death pool, because unless I change my mind (or can't come up with a storyline that at least somewhat uses all those remaining) there's probably only going to be one more death.

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Review of chapter "Chapter Five" from jgoodman
Love this story, please update - have you considered the X-Men universe
Comments from author:
Sorry for the reply delay - a family member has been sick (and in the hospital recently) so I've been more then a little distracted.

Anyway, while I know a little about the "X-Men" universe, I will admit I don't know too much, so that's probably not going to happen.

Have no fear though, while I haven't updated in a while I am still thinking about this fanfic, and hopefully will get my ducks in a row soon and be able to get back into seriously working on it. As for the crossover, it's looking like it'll probably be "True Blood," though there are still a few kinks with that idea which need to be worked out.

Wow I just came across this story. I hope you finish it. You're so close. Its a fabulous, heart wrenching story.
Comments from author:
*grins* I am in no way giving up on this fanfic. It's opening for a crossover is so perfect that it will happen, I'm just having some real problems deciding on which crossover. Every time I think I've decided I'll get started and realize that either the mood for me isn't working or the mood for the fanfic itself isn't working. *sigh*

However, I may finally have one, and it is entirely unexpected - in Nov./Dec. I finally started watching "Supernatural," and over the winter break I went back and watched seasons one thru four on DVD. After that I've come to like the idea of taking these characters who have mostly survived one apocalypse and dropping them in a reality that's about to go through their own apocalypse...

But there is a downside to taking this route, because I'd want to wait and see how Kripke and company handle the whole thing (i.e. watching ALL of season five) before dropping the characters in and putting my own spin on the whole thing. So, if I do decide to go this route it may be a long time before this fanfic sees another update.

Not sure about the crossover. But liking the story either way!
Comments from author:
*grins* Glad you are enjoying. As for as the crossover, I thought I'd (finally) made a decision, but I may end up going with one that wasn't even on the list. *sigh* Why? Well, A, I just can't seem to get into the one I'd finally (or thought I'd finally) settled on, and B, for some weird reason none of the others on that list seem to be any more appealing (to me) at the moment.

Moonlight is set in LA as the BtVS character are from there they would likely return. Whereas I cant see any reason they'd go to St Louis although it might be justifiable Bon Temps however I a small nowhere town that the likely would never even hear of much less visit. firefly may work as its another Whedon-verse plus could show that you don't need demons to destroy the world. Forever Knight has similar looking vampire to Buffy or there is something totally different like Forgotten realms. ultimately writewhichever you have the best ideas for.
P.S. Damn you for killing Giles I wanted his wry observations on a new world, still great fic :)
Comments from author:
*grins* Yeah, I could've had fun with Giles, but as I've told others I simply needed to cull the cast because there were (and still are really) to many characters for me to do them all justice. If I weren't offing some here and there I'd end up with a bunch of characters that were simply there but not really doing or adding anything to the story.

I'm glad you're still liking this fic despite the death of Giles, and the good news is that it looks like there will only be one more character to be offed (i.e. culled) in the near future - i.e. Within the next five chapters.

As for Los Angeles vs other places, I could actually see the characters not wanting to go some place that looks (and even almost feels) like home but at the end of the day really isn't their home. However, I wasn't planning to have them travel to the new location (other than the jump from one reality to another) I was just planning to drop them where ever I end them up, at which point they'd decide to stay where they are until they at least figured out what's the what of the new reality. Plus, right now in their own reality they aren't in California anyway, they're actually somewhere in northern Idaho so even if I landed them in the same place in the new reality they wouldn't be in California.

Anyway, I believe (unless something changes) they are going to end up in The Hallows (which is in southern Ohio), because there's just so much richness in The Hallows Verse that even though it would probably be easier for me to write in/about the True Blood Verse there just aren't as many secondary characters that could be used - meaning I can play in The Hallows Verse without messing with the main canon. Of course, I don't usually mind upsetting canon, but this fanfic is geared to being more about the surviving Buffy/Angel characters than it is about the crossover or the crossover characters.
(Plus there is just an awesome potential Tara romance in The Hallows Verse.)

I know I put Moonlight up as a consideration, but as I mentioned I had two different ideas, and have come to realize having two ideas wasn't actually a good thing. I like the potential in both directions, and because of that I can't bring myself to pick one over the other, which means neither will happen. As for Firefly, I couldn't do that one because I am one of those few who didn't (and haven't) watch(ed) Firefly, and I'm not sure I've ever heard of Forgotten Realms, so that won't happen either. However, I do know Forever Knight (very well, I even own the dvds) but I never considered it for this fanfic mostly because (once again) the non-paranormal aspects of this one are so very much like the non-paranormal aspects of the Buffy Verse, and there probably wouldn't be much character interaction, especially if I set this post-FK canon, since FK canon ended with lots of dead (and truly dead) characters. *grin*

First of all, I'd like to applaud you on his chapter and the fic as a whole. I've got a bit of a mail backup so it took me a while to get around to this ... you've probably already chosen and may be in the midst of writing but I thought I'd give my opinion anyway. *ducks head and blushes*

I've never heard of The Vampire Diaries or The Hallows so I don't feel I'd be able to adequately understand any in depth interaction with the world around them.

I've never actually seen Moonlight or True Blood but I've read enough fics that I'd probably feel comfortable reading it.

I like Twilight crossovers even though I was a tad bit disappointed with the movie or really the characterization within the movie.

I love Anita Blake but you're right that a crossover with the Anita Blake world wouldn't really carry through without the Anita Blake characters to back it up.

Blade or X-Files would be cool, Blade probably more so than X-Files. CSI, while I love, would be a bit too much like the 'original' -blind/mortal- Buffy world. Ice Age would be hilarious but probably not the direction you'd want to take it.

I would like to put forth a few, though I'm not sure if they'll spark anything or how comfortable you'd feel writing them: Stargate (SG-1 or Atlantis), Star Trek, Supernatural ...

-- In short, I love your work so no matter what crossover you decide I'll try to read. I can't promise to understand or even complete it but I'll try. XD
Comments from author:
The good news, or bad, depending on your point of view, is that I'm still undecided. Because of the voting I was (and maybe still am) leaning toward The Hallows, though to be fair The Hallows was a top contender before the voting. Anyway, yesterday I got one of the two Rachel books I needed to read before taking this fanfic there, and I discovered that one of the characters I was really hoping to use would not be useable unless I put the remaining Buffy/Angel characters in before the Rachel books start, which is still a possibility.

As for the suggestions you've made, I have to admit that I only know one of the three well enough to even begin an attempt. I never could get in to the whole Stargate(s) thing, and while I know a little more about Supernatural most of what I know about it comes from the things I've seen about it on Fandom_Wank, which probably wouldn't lend itself to a good fanfic. So, the only one of your suggestions I would feel somewhat secure in doing would be Star Trek, because I have seen lots (and lots) of Star Trek (not to mention the Trek novels I've read in addition to that), but if I went there it would most likely be VOY, though I suppose DS9 would be possible. However, as I thought about (and typed) my reply here I've found that the idea of making this a Star Trek cross just isn't sparking any ideas, nor am I finding the idea very appealing... Sorry.

Weirdly enough I did consider (very early on) having the characters land in some reality that takes place in the past (or simply have them land in the past of another reality), but in the context of this fanfic I just didn't find those ideas very appealing. By chapter two/three I'd come to realize that for whatever reason I'm okay with a ten/twenty year time difference, but anything more than that just doesn't appeal to me.

*shrug* I remember the order of the authors notes on chapter four, but right now, in my head, it's really coming down to "The Hallows" or "True Blood," and as a few of my ideas take a beating from "The Hallows" canon I admit that "True Blood" is movin' on up.
("The Vampire Diaries," which was originally in the top two has fallen off for two reasons. The main reason is that (as I mentioned, I believe) the outside (normal) reality of it just isn't different enough from the Buffy/Angel one, but it's also slipped down because I don't believe it has gotten a single vote, and that has caused me to look more at the ones that are getting the votes.)

Still, as I told another reviewer, I am aware that in this fanfic I would need to try and be like a "real" author once we get to the crossover describing everything, or at least enough to give folks a real idea of what that reality (and characters) are like, because I realize that no matter which one I choose there's probably going to be at least one or two readers that know nothing about it. Thankfully because the remaining Buffy/Angel characters would be true outsiders this should be easier than normal to do, so I'm hoping that no matter where I go I'll be able to make the fanfic easy(ish) to follow and understand.

Thanks for reading, reviewing, and voting. :)
(Here's hoping this reply makes sense - I'm on pain meds so when I come back and read this reply I may find that it makes no sense.)

Except for CSI I'm familiar with ALL of the verses you put forward as potentials, and I must say, the Hollows or True Blood seem to be the best choices...C'mon, Xander and Algaliarept? I'd love to see those two meet. Rachel and Spike...Giles and Jenks interacting would be a hoot. Ivy....and Angel? Who could outbrood or angst the other?

True Blood would also be good, but the characters, even the inhuman ones, are still so....HUMAN. They don't come across as such personalities as the Hollows crew.

That's my .02 cents.
Comments from author:
*grins* Based on the voting so far I am leaning more toward the RachelVerse than the True Blood Verse...

When I first posted chapter four I was leaning much more toward True Blood mostly cause it is still fresher in my mind, but outside of the AnitaVerse the RachelVerse seems to be getting the most votes, and while I know I said the one with the most votes might not happen I am finding myself a bit swayed anyway. However, I ran into a slight problem when it came to going with the RachelVerse; one of the characters I'd probably want/need to use requires me to purchase two more Rachel books before I can go any further in that direction, so that means if I do decide to go with the RachelVerse the next update will be more than a little delayed, because I will want to read those two stories before posting anything else.

(Now that doesn't mean I can't go ahead and write/plan, because some of the things that will happen to the remaining Buffy/Angel characters would happen no matter where they end up. But naturally there are a few things (such as which of the surviving Buffy/Angel characters will end up on the chopping block, because depending on the universe that character changes) which can only be decided after I decide which reality they'll end up in.)

As for the character interactions you mentioned, you may end up disappointed, because I don't plan to have the main Rachel characters really interacting with the Buffy/Angel ones. Part of that is because I don't think I could be "fair" to Rachel - I'll be honest, I think she's an idiot, and I'm afraid trying to write her or otherwise include her might end up looking like I was only doing so to bash her character, which honestly wouldn't be the case it would just be an extension of the way I see her, which is I suspect a totally different way from the way most Rachel fans see her. And that leaks onto the other main Rachel characters - for example, because I don't think Rachel is all that great I find myself unable to understand what the heck characters like Ivy and Kisten see in her, and because she is a big part of their lives I'd probably end up avoiding them because of my own lack of understanding, though one of the books I bought is the one with the Ivy short story, and some people said that one give them an understanding of Ivy that they didn't have before, so I haven't yet written Ivy off entirely. On the other hand, Jenks I would probably find very easy to write, but there are two problems with Giles/Jenks - Giles died in chapter four, and again it would be hard for me to write Jenks while avoiding Rachel. Not impossible, but probably hard enough to take most of the fun out of it for me, though I'm not against the idea of playing with a pixie or fairy.

So, I will be playing more with characters like Denon, and other lessor known Rachel characters if I go with the RachelVerse, though I expect Piscary might end up with at least a cameo, cause I suspect the fanfic/story would demand it at some point, and I've toyed with the thought of working Trent in somehow, though that probably won't happen cause I can't come up with a way to do so. And while I wouldn't mind playing with a demon or two, Big Al is pretty much out since he is so heavily into stalking Rachel, which is pretty much how the cookie will crumble on which characters play and which don't - any character really into Rachel (for any reason) won't have a large (or any) part in this fanfic.

Sorry about rambling on, but after you mentioned interactions you'd like to see, I thought it only fair to warn you that the ones mentioned probably won't happen.
