Glad this one had nice little hints about Buffy and Jack getting together. : ) I would love some stories of the odd family going forward. only if you do please don't let Willow bring her back from "heaven" I guess it wouldn't work now anyway seeing as she is now a full Galifreyan and surely she would remember. Anyway. Would love to see a happy ending for them all except Rose isn't immortal...but then it sounds like she was a little bit more like he loved her like a lost daughter.

Found this story through the CoA and I can't believe I didn't find it on my own. It's magnificent! As is the first fic/prequel. I read 'Can I open the watch now, Daddy?' and inspiration totally hit me upside the head.
so lovely!!!!! the doctors missing her at times made me want to cry, and to do a chapter on each of their povs was a great idea. him being her idea had really surprised, and at first i had thought they'd be paired together, but this was sooooooo much better

For about ten minutes after I read this story for the first time I was filled with the irrational desire to reach through my computer and shake you by the arms while screaming AND THEN WHAT?
Thankfully the urge passed and I woke up to the awesomeness. It was a wonderful way to end the story. But I got so swept up in it that I don’t think I could have taken it if you hadn’t included that snippet about there always being an and then. I’ve now read every story you’ve posted on this site (I promise I'll try and review as many as I can) except for the two or three twilight crossovers and that’s just because I haven’t read the books or seen any of the movies and I know if I read your stories they’ll be so good I’ll have to.
Anyway this story is one of my favorites, it’ also one of on my recommendations that makes four of yours now. This story has everything: stunning characterization of the doctor and such sublime prose it borders on poetry. The non-linear storytelling works very well. I loved the bit about The Doctor hearing Buffy as a song in his head. The way you dealt with the Doctor naming was nothing short of brilliant. The name itself the one who flies above is great too. Is Buffy joking about The Doctor naming her birdgirl a reference to James Joyce? Which of Vonnegut’s books does the quote Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts come from? The doctor coming back to the same instant her left to ask Rose to come with him is a fantastic piece of reimagining. This is when fanfic is at it’s best reinterpreting and enriching familiar stories.
In your notes you mention you may someday continue the Elevation series and I know you occasionally write fics from prompts. I came across a quote the other day which I think would be great either for the series or another Buffy/Doctor story “a teardrop on the cheek of time.” It’s from Tagore’s poem Shah Jahan. The complete line is “one teardrop, glistening spotlessly bright on the cheek of time.” In case the name isn’t familiar he was the Mughal Emperor who had the Taj Mahal built when his wife died.

Thank you, I haven't gotten such a langthy review in a while. I'm glad you like my stuff so much. No,m Buffy's reference to her name has nothing to do with James Joyce. It's just her usual irreverence for pretty things. Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts is, of course, from the famous tombstone in Slaughterhouse Five. (Go buy that book. And then every other Vonnegut book you can get you hands on.) It's a connection to the first story, where I talk about bugs in amber, somewhere, also Vonnegut.
As for a continuation of the series, I started Rose's part almost immediately after this one, but ran out of steam. These days I barely have time for breathing, but who knows, I might just watch some Dr. Who when I get a breather and get back into the swing of things. It's on my to do list.
Thanks again for the wonderful feedback. Just keep 'em coming. ;))
Cheers.

You have done a wonderfully excellent job with this series and I have added it to my list of CoA nominee candidates.

Love it. I would love for there to be more to this series. I enjoyed reading it and felt like you captured the characters beautifully. Please let there be more in the future because I really love it.
